Baseball is my favorite game to watch. I’ve been to Yankee Stadium a few times, but my favorite team is a small team in an independent league called the “Atlantic League” known as the “Long Island Ducks.” With their mascot, Quackerjack, the team has a number of former major league players and sons of famous major league players.

Carl Everett: The two-time American League All-Star has spent time eight big league clubs, including the Mets, Astros, Red Sox and Rangers. He earned a World Series ring with the White Sox in 2005.

P.J. Rose: In his inaugural campaign with the Ducks three years ago, Pete hit .262 while clubbing 14 home runs and 27 doubles, picking up 55 RBI. He has played previously in the Orioles, Indians, White Sox, Pirates, Reds and Phillies organizations. On September 1, 1997, Pete made his major league debut for the Cincinnati Reds, seeing action in 11 big league games. In 1,779 minor league games, he has collected 1,711 hits in 6,365 at-bats, with 142 home runs and 930 RBI. Pete established career-highs in home runs (25), doubles (31) and RBI (98) in 1997 while playing for Chattanooga (AA, Reds) of the Southern League. He had his best season in 2002 with Independent Winnipeg of the Frontier League, hitting .344 with eight home runs and 53 RBI in 56 games.

And of course our third base coach: Bud Harrelson, the Ducks Senior VP of baseball operations and part owner, has been a member of the coaching staff since the team’s inception in 2000. After leading the Ducks to an 82-58 record as manager of the 2000 Ducks, Harrelson moved to the position of first base coach for home games in 2001.

Known for his fiery play as a shortstop for the New York Mets from 1965-77, Harrelson is the only man in Mets history to have been in uniform for each of the franchise’s World Series championships (’69 as a player, ’86 as a coach). Currently, he ranks second in Mets history in games played (1,322), at-bats (4,390) and triples (45), fourth in hits (1,029) and seventh in runs (490). Harrelson was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 1986.

Bud’s extensive post-season experience figures to be a valuable resource in helping guide the Ducks in 2007. The fan favorite who helped introduce “Buddy Ball” to Long Island has won championships as a player (‘69 Word Series champion Mets, ‘73 NL champion Mets), a coach (‘86 World Series champion Mets) and an owner/coach (’04 Atlantic League champion Ducks).

Cake or Death?
I used to lift weights before I developed arthritis and a bulging disk in my back. I\'m thinking of Yoga, but I don\'t know.

My biggest love is fencing, though. It\'s like playing chess at 100 miles an hour. It\'s a blast to play, it\'s fun to watch, and it is interesting/compelling/engaging no matter your skill level. It\'s darn expensive, but finding a good club helps with this a lot. The perfect sport!

Play: Ice hockey and tennis

I don\'t mind watching other sports, but playing is always more fun than watching.

I think I stopped really caring when Sweden lost agains Belarus in the hockey quarter finals of thw Winter Olympics 2002... I was in a bad mood several days afterwards and decided that it wasn\'t worth it. I used to play hockey as well.

But I do watch sport sometimes but try not to get too involved. One sport I really enjoy watching is pool actually! It\'s almost meditative.

I\'m into any sport where someone gets their bell rung and it was both intentional and legal.

Thumbs up: Football, Boxing, Hockey, Rugby, MMA, and to some degree, soccer...

Thumbs down: Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, and pretty much anything that coule be considered \'Olympic\' with few notable exceptions that match the criteria above.

And anything that an 87 year old man can beat me at is not a sport...it\'s a game. So you\'ll notice I didn\'t mention golf. lol

Really, more than anything else, I\'m a raving football fan. Like others around here, I\'m foaming at the mouth awaiting regular season action!
