spray primer for plastic minis

I\'m going to be starting a plastic army next week, and I plan on priming them with a spray on black.

Can anyone recommend a good brand? I would prefer something that I might find in a US autoparts or hardware store, as I would need to mail order anything else.

I don\'t want to pick the wrong brand and melt a bunch of minis!

Thanks.

I know a few good painters that use Painter\'s Touch from Rustoleum, don\'t know if they have a black one though. Any good-quality acrylic primer for autos should work fine too.

hi

i dont think spray primers will melt plastic modles like it melts foam anyway you could try spraying the primer on the plastic sprues to test it

I just use what was cheap at Pep Boys (Varsity is the brand), but did pick up a can of gray Krylon at Wal-Mart today. Haven\'t had any problems with the first, haven\'t tried the Krylon.

I\'m a big fan of the Krylon Black Primer. Easy to get as most US hardware stores carry it. Just make sure you get the can marked Primer and not Flat Black (I\'ve made that mistake more than once, in a hurry).;)

Thanks for all the tips. The only black I found in my town was in an auto parts store, Dupli-color sandable primer. It seems to be working fine, no melting. :)
