Amazing skill you have... I really need to try tattoo stuff on a mini soon. It brings a lot of life into the figure.

Fuuuuuuu... Those look better then most of the ones i see in real life.

Did you just sort of glaze those on very carefully? Any insight for painting tattoos for mere mortals? How did you come up with the pattern?

Yeah this. The couple times i have tried tatoos it looked like a kindergartner slapping paint on the wall.

That's pretty much it. I painted them with a dilute 2 parts blue/1 part black mix of GW washes. The trick with tattoos seems to be to start of light and build up the intensity. Try to keep some transparency so the flesh colour still shows through the tattoo.

I researched tribal & blackwork tattoos to get some ideas for designs and then just dived in and made them up freehand. Once the blue/black was painted I went back with a little of the flesh tone and tidied up the edges.

That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping you had some special tribal tattoo airbrush wash film or something... just brush control, patience and artistic vision.

A quick update on the progress with Squarg. I've made lots of little adjustments to the details on his costume and glued the shield & spear in place. Brown can be quite a boring colour but I'm finding that a little purple in the shadows can give it a bit of life & depth. Metalics are just as tricksy to work with as I remember but the airbrush friendly ones (I'm using Vallejo Model Air & Scalecolour metalics) have very fine pigments and are going quite well.

The photos aren't the best I've ever taken but they give a fairly good idea of how Squarg is looking.

Hi Sproket, name's BloodFather and I am pretty new to this school. But some of popular kids in school tell me that you're the man round here. So just wanted to say hi, and that I caught up on your latest project and you are doing great. You have an awesome imagination which impresses me the most. Looking forward to following this thread. Ciao!

That shield looks epic.

The scratches on the spear head are not working for me. Maybe because they go over the chine of the edge? Should they bend there? I suck at doing those so I don't know...

What about a little more pink to go with that purple? Little more in the mouse ear and on the nose and then just a hint on the inside of the mouse pelt? Might help to break up the brown some more. I know you love the pink!

It's just possible that there may be one or two itsy bitsy mold lines on this mini but that isn't one of then. The line you are seeing is painted on but maybe I need to revisit it if it look like a mold line.

Now everyone stop looking for the mold lines - I'm not telling!

... I said stop looking.
