Spyglass Mini Variants

So then, I\'m wondering what the reaction would be to my producing variant versions of the existing Spyglass figures.

For example -

Kage Dar - Beard and cloak

Katalin - Succubus with armour

Generally to go back and create new versions of the characters by converting the originals (they\'d be conversions rather than new sculpts)

So, vote in the poll and let me know your thoughts :)

If it\'s a choice between one new sculpt and three conversions, I think I\'d be more interested in the new sculpt. I\'d leave the conversions up to the rest of the community.

Speaking for myself, the varients would prolly be a good idea - and as a boxed set would make itthat much better.

Okay, worth mentioning. I wouldn\'t expect the variant sculpting to have much impact on my other releases (which will become more regular fairly soon).

I would think variants would be a great idea, personally I think the Succubus would benefit from the armor a lot, it would be a cool addition to the sculpt :)

I very much welcome the idea of variations and conversions. As for selling them in sets or individual, it\'s really hard to say. Guess it really depends if the set grabs me or not.

But then again, there\'ve been plenty of times I wished I could buy just one mini out of a set. Fenryll comes to mind.

But if I liked all 3, and they\'re cheaper together, it sounds inticing.

Like I said, hard to judge. But keep on sculpting.

Seeing the same character in another pose etc would be a good idea, but conversions can be done by the painter himself. So I voted \"no\" on this one :)

no offence! :innocent:

Hi Steve,

Personally I\'d prefer to see you widen your existing range rather than do conversions of your current minis. I know you said that you don\'t think this will impact much on the release of new stuff, but as a one man band, so to speak, I would imagine any time spent on conversions would impact on your time available for sculpting.

However, go with what you\'ll enjoy doing!

Regards

Personally, I like everything you\'ve done so far.

I\'d like to see some variants like Katalin with armor (or skin tight clothes).

I don\'t want to see your production schedule slowed down, but seeing as I can\'t sculpt clothes and such myself, I don\'t mind if somebody else does the \"sculpting\" conversions, while I do the minor stuff like head, arm, weapon swaps!

I think a few variants of each fig would be great.

I would definitely prefer to be able to buy them seperately. Boxed sets can be really annoying.....

I like recurring characters....

I like the conversion to give variants idea.

Sold individually is preferable to me as well.

I also favor the idea of new sculpts of recurring heros. Different clothes, poses, on horseback, etc. etc. etc.....

Shae: Half Elven Upstairs Maid

Katalin: the Naughty Nannie

Sherlock Holmes in a bustier & thigh-highs...

 Oh! Wait! How\'d that last one get in there!

Tough call

I could see ne wsculpts perhaps having some interchangeable weapons or even limbs and heads, but I wouldn\'t want to see you go and alter the old stuff as a new release. Garrity has been doing it for years, and frankly, I do not like it at all! I have painted a half dozen female figures sculpted by her, and they are all the same, excep tmaybe one is holding a bottle instead of a scroll...

Hi Steve,

Good plan, but I think only viable if you do some rather extensive conversions like katalin with armor. I think producing a bearded Kage dar would not be very popular: people can do that sort of thing themselves (though probably not as good as you could). Make Kage Dar with an axe, a beard and a furry cloak for example would be another story.

A hooded Shae with a spear (tip down) tickles my fantasy as well btw :)

I would really like to see the Succubus in armour. I would definitely buy it if she were armour clad. Im just not much for the naked minis.

Okay, it gets out... It\'s not the eyes so much. I call her the Leper Queen now, because all her hands are deformed stumps :D
Yes, the eyes are a pain too...
