Reds are a challenge when highlighting. Been messing around with oranges, yellows and even light browns.

Good Painting should be fun with a Capital F.
Reds are a challenge when highlighting. Been messing around with oranges, yellows and even light browns.
Something you might want to consider is using Dwarf Flesh or similar mixed in to soften that harshness of the highlight development.
