I don\'t really have so much spare time, I just use most of it to pain Anyways, finished the remaining two thunderers for the Marauder regiment, the cannon is also close to being finished, with only the metals and wheels left to do, and then it\'s on to the warriors and character. So without further ado;

This bloke could be used as a unit champ, even though I don\'t generally do command groups for small thunderer units, just like the look of them being led by a more senior dwarf.

Anyway, main point of this update, the cannon has been finished, I never want to paint wood ever again :s

I feel your pain with the wood. I read the wood grain article that was posted and It took me a while to figure it out

These guys are looking good. I like the combo of classic minis and more muted colors. The old catalog dwarfs were insanely colorful.

Would you mind giving a quick rundown of the colors you\'re using for beards and skin? I\'m always on the lookout for new recipes, because I\'m never satisfied with any of my attempts at hair or flesh

@DaN, nothing as such, just very tedious to paint in large amounts

@BigDennis52, hehe, yes indeed

@Jericho, thanks mate, the skin is really quite simple

Tallarn flesh
highlight by adding increasing amounts of elf flesh
highlight further by adding white to the tallarn/elf flesh mix

The beards are where I experiment, but the blonde ones are

Desert yellow
highlight by adding in kommando khaki
highlight further by adding in white to the desert/khaki mix

Black beards are generally something like;

Black
highlight by adding in some blue/turquoise
add in white/light grey in increasing amounts to previous mix

Grey beard;

Adeptus battlegray
highlight by adding white to the adeptus battlegrey

The brown beards are generally

Brown paint (whichever one you like really)
wash with badab black or devlan mud
rehighlight with the brown
add in highlights with khaki and white

And painted up one of the warriors, ridiculously quickly I might add, soo much metal, once that and the face was done the rest was just like detail work really. Don\'t worry though, they\'ll all get shields in green and yellow to tie them better in with the army, doing them all en masse when the unit\'s painted.

Same skin recipe that i use, although i sometimes add in a liche purple wash or glaze for depth.

Thanks, I can be pretty patient at times I got most of them off eBay, and some from trades etc. Anyway, finished another one, just one to go for the rank now.

Looks much better than the other ig you did. I really like the colour of his chest plate, althogh the shoulder plates seem a slightly differnt colour??

Like the blood effects and the freehand is very neat ( i suck at free hand).

Any chance of a pic of his right hand side (from his pov)??
