So after buying a metric crapton of Imperial guard at GD (unfortunately not including the FW Masterclass book :() I have started assembling and converting them. They have a trench fighting theme, and I wanted to really individualise them, hence I bought Forgeworld add ons and upgrades, lovely kits.

So, first three converted Guardsmen;

Bases made using cork, some H-beam bits, balsa, homemade barbed wire, and vallejo\'s lovely sandy paste

Will try to get stuck in with the painting tommorow.

C&C appreciated,
Squig

Nice, i\'ve always loved the cadian upgrade kits the FW do.

What colour scheme are you planning to use for the guard ?

I did manage to pick up the FW masterclass book, to be honest its all about vehicles and if you dont have an airbrush you wont make the most of the book.

Personally, this year i picked up a chunk of world eater conversion kits and a red scorpion vanguard kit (lovely resin jump packs).

Nice so far, will be good to see some paint on these geezers. Unfair, you just started year 9 at school, the year in which no work is required!

Keep it up Squigs :p Nice trench

Eidt: Although won\'t that look wierd if you\'re gonna use them for gaming? Walking around with part of a trench-wall?

If they\'re just for display it doesn\'t matter though of course :)

use the free wooden stirers from coffee shops mate, they break like real planks of wood, unlike balsa wood.

you can usualy pick up pieces of slate etc from service stations as well. ;)

I can\'t find anywhere that does suitable stirrers :(

I did however get a box full of slate off the neighbours roof :D

Ari, Remember that during World War 1 there was no drainage for the tranches so heavy and deep puddles thick mud and rats were extremely common.
(And before you say anything, one of my Great Uncles came back from Passchendale).

Lovin\' those bases, very cool.

If you cant find any coffee stirrers or popsicle sticks, the same place that sells the balsa wood probably sells bass wood in various rods and planks and what not in the same sort of \"mini friendly\" size ranges. Bass wood is a strait grained hard wood, good for structural stuff. Might not break as jagged as a coffee stick though, bit more solid but probably a bit nicer than balsa, and MUCH more durable. Which is what is the big selling point for me, no cutting the stick in half with your finger nail. Not that the balsa is looking all that bad, however.

You can also get large packs, boxes, bags of planks/coffee stirrers/popsicle sticks in just about any craft, hobby, dollar store in North America...not sure where you are but I\'d assume it wouldn\'t be hard to find. They\'re sold to kids to build log houses and to older kids to mix epoxies, resins, etc.

Unfortunately all the coffee shops in Cov have plastic stirrers, at least they did last time I checked. I suppose it might be worth another look.

Colledge has its upsides.. every friday off for example...

Alex

The upside to college is the ammount of parties and the access to women that are equally drunk. And, with the ammount of parties, the amount of people not in their beds, so theres always a place to go :D

At least thats how it is here

Dude, you are like some kind of mini-making machine! Looking very cool... and that was a big bag of stuff you had, at least 1.5 metric craptons.

Am I right in thinking this was your last year in youngbloods? So it\'s the wonderful world of golden demon for you next year :) Better get on with getting some entries for that started too... come on, hurry up!!!
