lol, And now for something completely different. Flamer-guy :) This, I think, is one of my most complicated and involved convertion projects to date, involving vutting away half of the flamer and all the tubing and making new stuff from wire, rod, greenstuff and plasticard and I\'m quite pleased with how he turned out. And that little bit sticking out of if mouth is a lho-stick (read cigarrette) in case anyone was wondering:)

just out of curiosity, i guess you use white for the freehand on the shoulderpad, have you tried using the astronimican grey?

i usually don\'t like the foundation colours, but the grey is very close to white, and has better and faster coverage, i often use it for white detailing such as lettering....

not to fret, but i noticed that the white freehand looks as though you went over it several times, the foundation grey would probably allow you to do it in one layer.

BTW, this is not meant to criticise your painting, i wish i had half the skill you have (i don\'t wanna know how good you\'ll be at 23)

keep up the great work.

That flamer dude looks crazy good. He looks a bit like Dr Evil but there you go. Nice work, can\'t wait to see this painted up.

E Tool=entrenching tool. a smallish shovel that can be folded up. I think that some of the backpacks on the IG heavy weapons sprues have them hang off them. These where used by the troops in WW1 has close combat weapons. Think that I readed someplace that these where a more \'human\' (read quicker) way to kill someone Vs kniving them to death.

Righto, an update of sorts. Working on a semi-cross section-semi somethingorotherelse entrenchment thing for a heavy weapons team (WW1 style Vickers machine gun in the works :D)

And also, because I\'ve gotten ahold of some molding/casting stuff, and casting my stowage bits is now underway

Pictures of the stowage bits themselves. The smallish pouch thingies now have the triangles scraped off.

The resin I bought now appears to be clear, which shouldn\'t really be a problem anyway.

Nick, you\'re such a meany!

....I was going to say that :p

I painted up my sniper, he\'s fairly muted, and melds into his base quite nicely, which is what I was aiming for, him not wanting to be seen and all, I also dulled the metals and stuff because of that. The gun isn\'t weathered, because I imagine snipers to be a bit obsessive about cleaning their guns :) The line killmarkings indicate regular troopers killed, dots = sargeant and triangle = lieutenant :)

A real sniper would also have covered his hands, the whole gun would be covered in camo and foliage. Also, snipers dont keep a score of the number of kills they make, they don\'t see it as a sport. (see college does teach you some stuff..)

Anyways, looks good, although not your best work, try not to rush what you are doing and plan out the colours etc..

Not much more to add.. if you ask a sniper if they have ever killed anyone they wont answer (ask most soldiers that and you wont get a reply). Snipers work in teams of two, one spotter one shooter, they swap over. They will lie in wait for days and have specially built armour so they can lie flat comfortably. Good snipers can often shoot at a target all day without them noticing because they are so far away there is no sound.

In college we did a sniping exercise where you had to lie on the floor for 15mins looking into grass trying to find military items. Its not as hard as you think, you just have to look for odd shapes rather than differnt colours becuase if you do that you will never find the things. Also from a distance its hard to tell if that thing on the fence post is a plastic bin bag or a burgen attachment.

Thanks for the info alex, this is however, not a real world sniper ;) I can see all your points, but for it to be completely correct I would have had to reculpt most of the mini, a real sniper probably would never have worn the beige uniform either, but this is 40k ;) I can\'t quite see your point of choosing colours etc. more carefully??? Anything in particular (apart from incorrectness :p ) that lowers the standard of the sniper in regards to the other guardsmen???

Understand compleatly, just thought you might want a little more background =), the gw snipers are pretty unrealistic but are suitable for gaming.
