stacking the deck?

Just an observation. I aint losing sleep over this but was curious if anyone else noticed this. Seems to be a growing trend on the Top 10 list.

I see the same mini with 2 and 3 submissions at the same time. Same mini, just a single shot but different angle in each. Many ARE well painted and are good enough to make the list (IMO, many aren\'t) but by breaking up a single, multi angle submission into 3 different submissions they get 3 times the bang for the buck.

I still think there should be a rule about one submission per mini, with an exception made for squads/units where you can have the whole unit as a submission and then individual submissions for each model.

not new but certainly annoying. it makes me wonder what potential got kicked off because of it. we shall never know.....

It is one of my pet peeves...even the ranking system is skewed but it would be too hard for the mods to sort out,I would think, to stop it even if they wanted.

I used to comment on the \"another view\" posts but whats the use they want their kudos and do not take them down anyways.

My gretchin thing got booted lol.... A couple of nice bits at about 8.8 -9.0 as I recall ... well it\'s nice to see every concievable angle of a submission I suppose ;)

Happens all the time. You know, 5 years ago, when most of decent image processing software cost arm and leg (GIMP was always free though) I could understand this... Now, though with the proliferation of free software I think it is just laziness

Can not say I agree about being lazy, because often many painters have multi-shots in their multi-submissions.
That is why I think that it is done to skew rank three pictures at 8-9 will do quite a bit for your standings and many painters will do whatever to raise up.

I have put in duplicate submissions before to figure out what pictures people like the best but I delete the lower scoring right after it is apparent like 15 or 20 votes

Like I say, I aint losing sleep over it, it just seemed to be a bit thick lately and got me to wondering how skewed it would make the top 50 artist\'s list and such if you have a bunch of basically spammers forcing their way into it - truth be told, the work speaks for itself no matter the score, or \'supposed\' score......no big deal, just observing.......I enjoy what I\'m doing either way!

There\'s always been a problem with this to some degree, at least as far back as I\'ve known about the site. Especially annoying recently seeing multi-views submitted more than once, with nearly the same images in both.

I\'m sure they\'ll be lots of claims of innocence from submitters that there\'s no ulterior motive but there is some element of gamesmanship in choosing to do this - if you know you\'ll get 9+ for a mini then you\'re hoping to guarantee two things in your gallery with this score, upping your rating. If someone has five pages in their gallery with most scores in the high 8s and 9s anyway, no biggie. But if they\'ve got just a handful of stuff, well...

What bugs me lately is you see this too often from submitters whose stuff also has questionable vote/view numbers.

A few years ago, there was a dragon that must have had 50 shots on here. Every time I saw that thing (after the first few), I\'d vote it down and leave a comment as to why: \"-2 for seeing this thing too many times.\"

I tend to do the same but with -1 each time I see the same mini. I sometimes comment on it, but that never seems to result in anyone removing the pictures so I don\'t comment nearly as often as I did.

Well you can make a vertical strip of multiple views, host them on photobucket and link them to coolmini. This way you avoid 200Kb size restriction and put as many shots as you want.
