Stain-painted orks!

Hey! I\'ve painted a bunch of 40k orks and snotlings now, and I\'ve been looking for a way to do it faster, but still with good results, at least tabletop level. I asked for some hints in the Painting forum (http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=4430), and someone told me about \'stain painting\', which I thought sounded interesting.

Here are the models:

I completed these in about 2 hours, which is about 10 times faster than I would normally have done them but with pretty much equal results! I did this by undercoating the minis white, then washing with thinned down colours. First a rather bright wash, then a darker and more thinned down wash. The result is that the darker washes float further down cracks and crevices of the mini. The end-result is not really clean or crisp, but the detail is pretty good I think and the overall impression good enough for tabletop. Right?

perfect for tabletop...

Yup, you can\'t beat that. If your goal was just to get them looking decent for gaming, it works wonderfully! Plus at that pace, you could field a battalion in no time!
