standalone excel?

is there an app that lets an Excel spreadsheet work standalone (without the computer needing Excel installed.).

I know that I could print it out as an Adobe .pdf file, but then the macros would not work.

I also know that Powerpoint shows can be saved as standalone which is what got me thinking...(dangerous - yes, I know.)

The version I use has \"Save As\" options for webpage and text. If you need to play around with it outside of excel but on another spreadsheet package, saving as a CSV file might work. Not sure how the macros would be affected in any of these states though. I\'d imagine for a full working sheet you\'d need Excel.

You mean like compiling an Excel spreadsheet into an executable? That can be done with Access, if you can move your app across. Otherwise, I think you\'ll need Excel.

If it\'s specifically Excel that you want to avoid using, then perhaps OpenOffice would do the trick?

Can\'t think of anything that would let an Excel spreadsheet run as a standalone app.

There is a viewer application that doesn\'t require full Excel.

It\'s available here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c8378bf4-996c-4569-b547-75edbd03aaf0&displaylang=EN
