Standard how to

I agree with steel cult. If you want to do a free hand standard, it may be a cool idea pick a style for your standard and flags. Say you find that you enjoy the flavor 14th century byzantine art (If i ever get my hand on some brets!), so you go with that sort of style, and name the painting piece after someone who isnt a saint, or idol, but an ideal in your own mind.

What I try to do, which I should have done at my first go about with my dwarven army, (but am re-doing now :D ), is save the best pieces to do at the end of my army. (Heroes, Lords, Standard, War Machines... Anvils of Doom!)

This way I have the opportunity to gain experience and a little bit of skill before I do my special characters, and standards. A few of my units have flags, my standard will be done after I have finished some less important/complicated flags.

With this method, I can produce a better standard, not feel like I\'ve wasted a great mini, or regret a mistake. This may give you something more to look forward for, aim for. You can also feel proud of your crowning accomplishment at the end of your go about.

My Anvil of Doom is waiting! :)
