I personally liked the special editions for the most part, in particular the extra critters etc that weren\'t in the originals. I don\'t think they should mess around with the story though!

I honestly believe that he made these changes to makes the movies \'the way he wanted them\'. And that\'s fine, I suppose.
My problem with him is the lack of respect he seems to have for his fans\' opinions on things. I don\'t expect him to pander to us...but jeez...I can only listen to him say he doesn\'t care what we think so many times, y\'know?

I love \'em too, don\'t get me wrong.
I\'m sure I\'ll eventually buy the DVD\'s, even (how sad is it that I\'ll still give him another 40-50 bucks even though I\'ll be grumbling all the while).

Nothin to be ashamed of I bought them each time they were released and I still love em.

Well, I checked them out from Blockbuster first and I have to say, the DVD quality will make you never want to watch the VHS ones ever again. Plus, as some have already said, Young Anakin is now the Ghost of Vader, and now Han and Greedo shoot almost simultaneously. Plus if you advance frame by frame, you can see Princess Leia fall out of her Slave Leia outfit. And on the bonus disc in the still photo section, there are a lot of rare photos and still more of the Slave Leia goodness. In one photo, there are two Slave Leias, sunbathing, Carrie and her stunt double.
One of the above statements is false. It would have been really fun and a little dark sidish, to have waited a few days when the thread gets to page four with about 20 replies saying, \"I watched it really slow and I still didn\'t see her fall out. \" I did hear that it really happened, but my guess is that George is the one who got that piece of cut film. Maybe if we are lucky, Carrie will pull a Lauren Bacall and publish some old nude photos of herself when she was young, in Playboy.
I am amazed that Rachel on Friends used that outfit to fulfil Ross\'s fantasy. Somebody must really understand Star Wars Geek mentality.

And yet for all the fmaous ILM quality, when they were making those interactive DVD menus, many of the CGI models you see on those DVDs are from a Game Cube star wars game - Rebel Strike.
For example, on the scene select screen set insiade Yavin Hanger - all those x-wings and y-wings are 3d models that were actually used in the Rebel Strike game!
Yeah, I guess you could say, I have a little bit of pride that George Lucas needed to use our game models over his own ILM assets...

In that you\'d be wrong. Or at least, his selling power is not what it once was and is waning. One reason that these DVD\'s were rushed to market is that he was worried waiting until after Episode 3 would hurt the sales. Apparently Ep3 has so many issues that it will likely further damage the franchise.
Oh, and for anyone that hasn\'t bought the classic trilogy yet, don\'t worry. In 2007 a new set of all 6 movies will be released to celebrate the 30th anniversery of the franchise. And to convince everyone that bought the current trilogy to REBUY it, the 6 movie set will finally include the deleted scenes from the classic trilogy. Or at least that is the current plan...
actually I don\'t mind luca reedoing the a bit of the movie to refit is view of it. After all it\'s is movie and \'fan\' have no right what so ever over it. If their not happy well they can go back to their original VHS. Kind of anoys me all those fan thinking they know better then the guy who did the movie. I anyways watever happens they\'ll alawys be people bitching about movie beeing sucesfull or reedition of movies. Kind of like all those people complaining about the matric 2 and 3 befor they even saw it.

I don\'t know about anybody else, but what I mind isn\'t so much the changes but the fact that he\'s not releasing the original movies on DVD. Some people out there would like to see it they way they first saw it 25 years ago.
That said, I\'ll probably buy the set. But not until I get my Return of the King extended edition DVD.
