Being an avid fan of the book, the first movie absolutely sucked beyond all that has sucked, with perhaps an exception to Battlefield Earth.

I liked the first one. It had everything a guy could want in a movie: great special effects, lots of blood and guts, and boobs.

I loved part 1 and I know I\'m in the minority. I\'ve heard good things about number 3. Now number 2, that should be like Highlander 2, and ignored to the point you forget it exists. It was like mix between Aliens and Species and that is not a good thing. Totally utterly horrible.

I\'ve got to remember to rent 3 when I get a chance.

Marauder had its moments, and a few boobs (which may have been its moments, actually, now that I think about it), but was definitely lacking.

It was nice to finally see the Power Armour, but I wish it had been used more than it was.

I think what I liked most about it, really, was that they returned more to the flavour of the first one, with the news-net clips dropping in from time to time.

I liked the first one, though it was far from a brilliant movie. It was a good \'popcorn\' movie.

LOVED the first. It was pure B-movie genius.

It was like watching an hour long version of the cutscenes in command and conquer :D

Haven\'t seen any of the others.

I should read the book :)

I am not sure the first one was a B movie. I know it played in theaters. I do know for a fact that 2 and 3 were B movies.

One thing that did bug me about the series in general was that the marines were not like the marines in the book. Meaning that they did not have the crazy power armor and whatnot, they were just weak teenagers with football armor (at least that is what I think the armor looks like).

I also agree that 2 should be completely forgotten. I have never seen such bad acting before and when I watched that movie for the first time it brought tears to my eyes. Whoever made that movie really disgraced the series badly. The effects were terrible, the story was ok and again the acting... Another move that struck me as strange is one of the main characters in part 2 (the mid aged girl with the poney tail) played the head captain on one of the large star fighter ships in part 1. Remember? The girl who was crushed and killed by a door slamming on her body when they had to evacuate their ship after bug plasma struck it? So I thought that was a little incongruent.

The first movie was inspired Verhoeven trash. Entertaining but utterly bastardized from the original book. Verhoeven of course couldn\'t resist using the film for his own (ham-handed) message, not Heinlein\'s.

I also think the Mobile Infantry should have been a lot more like (Space Marine) Terminators, but of course that would have dehumanized the stars during the action... In the book they were like one-man tanks dropped from orbit, not expendable human-wave grunts.

I just assumed the sequels were utter rubbish, though I enjoyed the \"Roughnecks\" cartoon series.

Adie: it has a number in the title and you are surprised at the result. lol
Just hope you hired it instead of buying it.

If you hold almost any movie adaptation up against the novel it was based on, it\'ll come off second best.

At least SST was a decent piece of vacuous entertainment in its own right.

The sequel was a steaming pile of donkey-trots!

Totally agree with you, watching it means you have to empty your intellect.
