Starting Purple

I\'m about to start some GW Chaos Marines in purple. Do I just prime white and then straight purple or should I do blue first?

This is a \"Depends\" answer to your question.
It depends on what you expected end result will be ie if you want the Purple to have either a Blue or Red balance.

There is a GW Foundation Purple which is Ok as a primary coat.

I usually recommend black primer for 90% of army projects, it seems to be a lot faster unless you\'re using a lot of white or really bright colors in your color scheme. Be prepared to do 2 coats of most purple colors either way. Except the Foundation color, which is a decent starting point where you can use inks/glazes for shading.

Do you have any pictures of the color scheme you\'re trying to use? Or is it one you just made up?

I\'ve been doing a lot of purple lately, I find two coats of liche purple is a good starting point for me if I feel like shading down after, but if you dont like shading down, I actually had some really nice results using regal blue as the base coat. Oh, and I prime black almost all the time.

Thanks. I think it\'ll try working down from blue. I\'ll try doing a white prime on these and see if it makes things easier. I had so much problem with the white helmets on my terminators using a black primer.
