Starting with the face?

Always painted as If I was getting dressed, Skin first and work my way out.

Ditto on the in to out method... To add a level of detail to the description however, typically I block paint from in to out, then I go back and detail from in to out. So yes, the face typically gets painted first, at least it gets blocked in with an appropriate dark fleshy color.

Hmm - blocking is probably a very practical way to do things. It gives you a feel for the overall look, minimizes chances of screwing up finished areas later on, etc.

That being said, I will pick an area/color and will take it from basecoat to finish, and then move on to the next color/area. So if I am doing armor, I will do all the armor at once. Or skin, or metal, or whatever.

I think will will carry on starting with the face, I suppose we all have our own styles and ways of doing things and it works for me.

Good, You find what works for you.

To me doing the face first, can allow me the means to define how I want the colours to look in comparison.
Pale skin for softer colours etc, etc.
