Statuesque Miniatures - Crossing the line

I've just finished the beautifully sculpted lady from Statuesque Miniatures. She was a delight to paint and I had fun basing her. Oh, I bottled it from doing loads of freehand - maybe next time.

Very nice, it shows that you had fun with the base. Where's the gate from? Is the gate post carved foam?

The gate and pillar are both from Forged Monkey, but I don't think it's on their website yet.

I've looked at this several times, while I think the base is a very good construction, I'm sorry but I have a couple of problems with the figure.

Firstly the skin gap of the thigh between stocking top and top of dress slit looks wrong, the skin is the same colour as the stocking.
Secondly the dress, the red looks "Flat" and lifeless, especially when compared against the brightness of the shoes. An evening gown as fitted as that would be a bright eye catching number, Scarlet or Vermilion, not a dull muted red.
In reality it quite possibly would be silk, represented in this scale with almost white highlights.
