stealing from your kid to paint minis

ok i have something to admit, my newest army is a speed freek army and i have been convertin\' up a storm.... i find myself however, doing some bad things.... yesterday like any other day i was upstairs playing with the boys, when i saw a nice engine attached to a car of his, then i looked around and realized everything i needed for customization is in my sons room. so i proceeded to loot his room and found a bunch of old bionicles, trucks, spears, little star wars guns and the like and now have them in my man room. i of course told him i would get a few new action figures for him and did. he now has 3 new star wars figures, and a truck, (which i may have to take at one point) lol.

so my question is what have you taken from your wife, GF, significant other, child or whatever to use for your miniatures?

lets see how depraved we truly are.

hehehehe.:D

Cake or Death?
I have been painting for so long that my whole family asks me if I can use something for my gaming before they buy it for themselves.

The only things I\'ve taken are a few needles from my gf\'s sewing box.

Oh, I\'ve nicked some stuff at work too, like paper clips (good for pinning) and toothpicks.

My kids are too old now so I have to loot elsewhere.

My wife and I have a weekly run to the local thirft store circuit, she heads for the paintings and clothing, I go straight for the toy shelves. I\'ve picked up a lot of great lootin\' stuff and terrain from those places.

lol I can empathize. I\'ve taken many a thing from my kids to use for minis, terrain, or roleplaying props.

But then again my son gets the benefit of me giving him all my HeroClix, and getting him into HALOclix - which he loves -, and other things like that.

To echo Vike: I ain\'t ashamed.;)

Now that\'s evil!

I can\'t say that I\'ve looted the kids\' rooms for anything, but it frustrates my wife to no end that I keep every single little tiny bit of plastic, just in case I find something I will use it on. Big thing right now is the two-week disposable contact cases. Nice round thing on one side, and a very thick piece of aluminum foil on the other. I\'ve probably got forty or so now. I should stop.

And to date, what I\'ve built up a big zero. I need to scratch-bash something soon. My misc plastic bits bins are nearly full.

Mini stuff.

I can\'t think of anything that I\'ve taken from someone else to go towards my mini-painting hobby. I usually just buy all those little things you find you need. However, I once pawned my guitar (when I was a poor student) to buy a box set of minis from Reaper. Two weeks later I went and got my guitar back.

Let\'s just say that the video card, my second 19\" Dell LCD monitor, and two of my sticks of RAM won\'t be missed from the old summer job. It\'s not as bad as it sounds, I worked at a waste management/electronics recycling station :D Reusing is more fun than recycling, even if it is technically stealing city property.

I\'ve annexed a few things over the years from family members and whatnot, but nothing serious. Some paperclips, some tools... can\'t think of anything else really. I\'ve never had a shortage of hobby supplies and models tho, having worked at GW for 2 years. Just the other day I exchanged some product I bought at discount for some new SM Veterans... it\'s been like 3 years since I worked there too :D

You better believe it! Broken toys, cogs, guns, bits and pieces.

From work;

printing, mounting and laminating tokens.
paper clips
cans of air
toothpicks
ink
brushes (!!)
old PC bits (I\'m an IT guy so fans etc are easy)

The list goes on!
