Steelcult & Kyrra at the LGS...

So, after work tonight I decided we needed to run by the LGS so I could feed my need for all things Orky. After pulling up the information online I called the delicate and wonderfully patient Kyrra and she agreed to going by the LGS despite it being likely that there would be hordes of unwashed and mutant gamers playing some type of game in the back... including the employees of said LGS. We dared the store anyway for Orky goodness, however, finding that they were having they\'re Annual Clearance Sale was definitely a plus! For me, that is.

Kyrra managed to locate a comic she liked right by the door and we meandered through the store looking through sale bins and checking out the tables. There was no one behind the counter but we could hear the sounds of gamers coming from the back of the store and the unmistakable whiff of \"eau de gamer\" wafting from the store. I\'m walking around looking for the Ork Battleforce, Ork Warboss, and a package of 1 inch round bases.

Then we both realize that the one display that has bases on it doesn\'t have any 1 inch round bases on it so Kyrra goes to the desk to ask for some. One of the gamers stops playing, with a big sigh, and comes over to the desk to listen to her question about the round bases. He\'s more interested in ogling her ass and her breasts than acknowledging her question beyond a mere grunt.

After a few minutes she locates the bases and we move our separate ways through the store, with the gamer continuing to ogle and stare at her the entire time. We\'re even joking at one point that the reason she doesn\'t paint/play with lead is that she plays computer games... or she would if the computer she built wasn\'t currently being well protected by all the lead I have surrounding it!!

When we get to the point of checking out, and is asked again about the bases, he comes up with the gem of \"Oh I can\'t get into my distributors database!\" When we wanted to know what was in the STORE! All in all, we managed to come away with Kyrra\'s comic, the Ork Battleforce, Sisters Repentia, assorted old Reaper lead AND a package of 1 inch round bases. All at 37% off. Woot!!

Now I just have to convince Kyrra that she doesn\'t have to use the ENTIRE contents of the water heater to peel off the gamer funk from her body!

Well we\'re in an apt.. so one is all I get!! And really, after that store, I\'ll take what I can get for that funk. Man, I\'m still feeling the eyes on my tits. And not in the \"hey, you\'re rather attractive\" type of way. *ugh*

I got a \"This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.\" from YouTube on that link but I was actually pointed toward a similar article here on CMON about it.

I\'m accustomed to the reaction simply because I\'m one of those rare animals.. a female tech geek. This particular guy was just 60 times more obnoxious about it than most of the geeks I typically work and interact with on a regular basis. I\'m used to males with very little social and verbal skills and geek speak, I just don\'t play with lead. I tend to play with computer parts and computer games. I started to hang out on here when I got bored when Steelcult was overseas so I could chat with him without the censors.

Right now I\'m watching him amass an Ork mob...as I\'ve been told that a group of Orks are not hoards :p whilst we watch the History channel on Manson. Yay, Friday nights at home. :p

lol Orks are an infestation of whatever proportions they want to be. Who\'s going to agrue?

You have it great. I\'m at work waiting for midnight to roll around so I can go home and paint. I dream of Friday nights in front of the TV watching mass Murderers.......well..........something like that anyway.

Sorry about the video. Can\'t fix it until I get home.

Oh it\'s not a problem. I\'m pretty sure Steelcult has shown me the link at one point or another as the more he tells me about it the more I remember.

I can definitely remember what it feels like to watch that clock for midnight or well 7AM to hit so you can leave the building and do something fun! At the moment I\'m looking for anything that doesn\'t include tech support / Call Center work for the near future. Hope the clock goes quickly for you!!

Poor Kyrra.

Will she need a 12 step progam after this.lol

Only if those steps include not going into the store when one of my favorite authors branches into comics or giving in when Steelcult requests to get supplies for his hobbies.

I may be many things including a bitchy female at times, but I\'m not a rabid weasel with breasts that won\'t allow him to do what he likes to do, even if I won\'t play the same games he likes or play them with him!! So yeah, I\'m thinking you can keep the step programs!

sadly most gaming stores involve two things. comic geek or card game geeks.

minis are only their for window dressing and high profit margins.

it makes me wonder how so many stores survive with no one behind the coutner. you would think people would be more attentive to potential customers enough to even greet them or acknowledge they entered the store. sadly that isnt true.

they just play with their paper crack and ignore all else.

congrats on surviving to post your horror story hear.

I do wish that I could shop in game stores on a day other than saturday. I always manage to pick the weekend when there\'s some kind of Magic release or tourney or whatever, so I have to pick my way gingerly round tables full of intense, sweaty types, getting glared at if I veer too close to the precious cards. I could understand if it was figures they were worried about- minis are fragile! Really puts you off browsing. And the guys behind the counter at the two stores I frequent always ask me if I need help in a terribly patronising way. Probably doesn\'t help that I\'m a Brit living in Germany on that front, tho. I need to learn German geek-speak, but I don\'t think there\'s a course for that. lol

I\'m currently girding my loins so I can go and find a Forgotten Realms book for a campaign that starts tomorrow. Wish me luck!

But then you would complain that they \'pounce\' GW staff style.

In defense of my LGS -

Usually when we go in there is someone behind the counter, and the guys who run the place are much better behaved. This is the first time in a long time that I even felt strong enough to brave the LGS on a Friday night, cause I am no more enamored of the smell and attitudes that you find there than kyrra is.

Ain\'t dat\' the truth, just the other day I walked into my LGS as a couple of \"Yu-gi-oh\" fanatics were harrasing everyone who didn\'t play it. I am happy to say that they were banned and thrown out:)

They were disrupting things, and just generally being asses. I didn\'t see all of it, but from what I did see they seemed to ask EVERYONE if they played it or not and if they didn\'t they gravitated around them and harassed them as to why not:cussing:

Well, search them out and just tell them it\'s shit. Well, the cartoon certainly is, anyway.

Don\'t kid yourself...they\'re both shit IMO!!

 at the Yu-gi-oh players. Surely their mothers hadn\'t let them off their kiddie harnesses? I dunno, parents! :p

I take back (almost) all the nasty things I said earlier about my LGS. Well one of them at least, I didn\'t go to the other yesterday.

It was brilliant! It wasn\'t full of MtG players (there were a few round a table at one end, I can cope with that), they had a 50% off sale on Confrontation boxes and blisters, and while perusing these, I randomly struck up a conversation with a clean, well-dressed German guy who was doing the same. Turned out that he was a keen conf player, they\'re holding a tournament there next weekend and would I like to come along? :D

I\'m chuffed to bits. I have lots of figures for conf but never seriously entertained the idea that they might see some use, other than for friendly games with my bf. :flip:

Oh, Kyrra, I\'m not disagreeing with you, it\'s just I\'ve seen the odd episode of the cartoon but never played the game so I couldn\'t say for fact it was shit or not.
