Hi Guys well I\'ve put up my Gold Vehicle winner....Still not the best pics yet hopefully I will have my lighting set up right soon .. currently relying on daylight and not getting much of that a lately...

any thoughts let me know what you think....

Brother Captain Severus

The basic idea is of a Nid Hunter Dreadnought. heavily weathered due to the conditions he fights in with a million and one little details added in both modeling and painting...I am just trying to figure out the best way to show the seperate panels and armour better on pics..each panel is painted with details and designs that tie to severus and the ultramarines history..
Great fun to work on a challenge at times.. thanks for the extra eyes from Bill and Electrolito77 as well as yellow one for the advice on colours for rusts and NMM.
and a big cheers to Orkydave who was there when I started this on day one and kept me going to the end....cheers mate:drunk:

Is it me or does it look like weight lifter? Wide at the top and very skinny in the legs.
What ever, Very cool. love the powerclaw and all the freehand/details. And it\'s a 10 for the win.

Cheers Guys much appreciated.. @ Mud duck ain\'t that what all dreadnoughts are????

seriously.. it\'s a funny situation..when at rest the dreadnoughts have allsorts of cables and servo bundles bunched up.. as I opened the legs I realised that I also needed to move these parts with it.. from some angles it does make them look a little skinny but other angles really chunky.. I will post some WIP shots on this thread when I\'ve finished my tea and it may give you an idea what I mean...

thanks again all for the kind words....

Well deserved win. Ok, I wasn\'t there so I didn\'t see the other entries but that dread is great. Great details, freehand and dynamic pose. My grey knight dreads are going to look really dissapinting when I get around to doing them. I hate you for that. :p

I must admit I didn\'t notice the sword lol
When I was holding it and having a good look there was just so many little details, in a way \'surprises\' which is fantastic IMO
And obviously many more that I hadn\'t found lol

yep magic ...
No to be honest several key things ..
Practise practise practise.
have a clear idea what the finished thing you want is.
be confident in your strokes...the less strokes a line or shape takes the smoother it is. (try it do a quick sweep with a pencil then draw a line following the same with the pencil slowly...the slower line picks up bumps and tremors caused naturally by the hand trying to relax into a normal position and your pulse etc.same principal.)
make sure you have a good point on the brush (longer bristles are better as they also carry more paint to allow the flow of paint to be more continuous.)
be prepared to make mistakes but remember you can always go back and tidy them up...

@Stubert .. I suck at pics and some pics I have show details better than others .Hopefully I will get some proper pics taken soon and the details can be seen nice and clearly....

One think I commend is the fact that you even have a background for the piece! I especially like the part that said he spends a lot of time fighting in acidic environments on tyranid infested worlds (or was that just an excuse to paint loads of rust ;) ). On fault I have with this otherwise exceptional model is the fragile looking waist, though I still think it deserves a ten. Do you know roughly how many hours you spent on it?

well you better get starting, cos the amount of little detals this model has your going to need a LOT of pics.

iv got a better idea, send me the dred so i can look at it beter:D.....stu.....

@Roger Bunting i never thort of it that way, thanks.....stu.....

The fragile waist was something that crossed my mind a little but Bulking it out would have lost the movement I wanted...I picture dreads moving a bit quicker than slow lumbering giants somewhere between a transformer and Robocop.

and no it wasn\'t just a excuse there is a theme for the whole army..I am doing it all as commission for a good customer and now Friend....there will be more to follow on this including a unit of terminators (especially after seeind davi Waeslynck\'s awesome duel) a tyrannic veteran command unit lots of vehicles and lots of men...
