Stone Tower Miniatures will be offering its first miniature for sale in the near future and I wanted to give everyone a sneak peak.

I am very happy to announce that Chris Clayton is the sculptor for this first piece entitled "The Squire." He has been very enthusiastic about this project and has done an incredible job so far. This is a shot from the second stage of production- all of the detail work is next.

The Squire is 1/35th scale and is approximately 42mm tall, which would put him around 45mm if he were standing straight. He will be a multi-part white metal kit that will include a base and accent pieces. More specific details will be given when the project is completed and the piece is ready for sale.

wow, he's a bit small for chris isn't he? i like him but a bit of a weird scale. i hope you aren't shooting yourself in the foot, as many wouldn't buy anything not 28mm

The face was something I really wanted to nail, so I provided some really good description and source imagery.

The scale was something I thought about a great deal. He's just about the perfect height for an adolescent in 54mm, which is what I was aiming for originally, but he also fell well into the historical 1/35th scale. I thought about doing 28mm or 32mm scale, but wanted to give painters plenty of area to play with on a dynamic sculpt.

great face, is it just me or does he look alot like luke skywalker mad hissy tantrum face and with just the sword armature it gives me a light saber vibe.

Great- I can't unsee it now that you've said it! The Luke resemblance is purely accidental, but pretty funny.

Another step closer to being done! Chris sent me this update last week, showing the completion of the squire's leather jerkin. Now it's all down to a few more detail pieces.

I love the Luke reference....I thought that at first as well.

The jerkin really helps fill the lil fella out. Looking ace.

The pose really helps add to the impression of the weight of the sword.
And yeah, I thought Luke with a Bieber haircut (or lack of) at first too!

Is it me or does his head look a little big? One quick look and I was sure something was a little off. I think the head is a little too big for his body.

I think with an Adult sized person next to him, the big head and feet will help make him seem more like the awkward teen-ish jedi-popstar that he's supposed to be.

The squire is now finished and I'm very proud to show you the final pics.I think Chris did an excellent job and I can't wiat to get the resin masters he's sending me. I'm getting estimates from a few different casting companies right now. Once I get all that worked out I'll be putting this mini up for sale- hopefully in a week or two.

I was thinking that as well. But seeing it from the back it seems to look the right proportions for a slightly gangly teen. As jesterz points out it'll probaby work best when placed next to a suitable adult mini.

Chris put the masters in the mail last week, so I'll be able to see this lad in person soon. I've also gotten quotes from 2 different casting companies, with more to come, so I should have the pre-sale information available within a couple of weeks!
