Stranded in Singapore

As the title says really, was on the way home but now stuck in Singapore until they start opening airports again, might be lucky if I get out by Tuesday but listening to the news it is likely to go on for longer as the Icelandic volcano is still spewing out ash and it has now closed the Russian airports as well (

Hope I get home by next Saturday though so I can go to Salute...

Chern Ann if you fancy a beer and I am still here when you read this then by all means get in touch.

Good luck at the GD Matt, listening to the news I think anybody flying to the UK or Europe is going to be doing so for a while yet.

I transit through Singapore tomorrow, Jakarta-Singapore-Brisbane, so I will only be at the airport.

Thanks tercha pm appreciated but luckily we have an agent here who is very good and is very efficient with what she does (thats why we use her) so I am in a hotel and not on the airport floor she is also on the ball with chasing flights etc as we book everything with her.

The news reckon that this is going to go on for another four days yet...bugger my Salute ticket is at home getting lonely so if I did get back to UK Friday night/early hours Saturday I'm not in a position to go without paying twice and having baggage :(

I just hope they start shifting flights by Wednesday/Thursday but its not looking promising, at this rate I am going to have to use hotel laundry service...hmmm n secound thoughts it'll probably be cheaper to just bin it and by new on Bugis Street.

Apparntly a larger volcano, Katla, has a history of erupting in sync with the volcano that's erupting right now. The word on the street is that if it does so now, we wont be flying for some time. ALso, it would f*ck up the summer in scandinavia. That would be just the thing. I'm sure we had over 5 m of snow this winter, about -40 degrees celcius average temp, at least. Now we're at risk of beaing cheated of our summer! It's really the only three months of the year that's not mind numbingly depressing:p

Blame the Icelandics. First they steal our cod, then they steal our money, then they decide not to pay and now they set off their volcanoes to further ruin European travel.

I say it's time for a regime change..

Good one. :)

I'll e-mail that to the family. They're stuck in Turkey for an extra week cos've all this hooha. Lucky for them it's a regular holiday, so they know folk out there and shan't have to curl up on the airport floor.

Thats what i dont understand, i know some people can only afford a certain amount, but if i was stranded id say fork it and find a nice hotel and have another holiday ( and cry later when my credit card bill arrives!)

Just heard from my family stuck in Turkey. They enjoyed the joke and'll pass it around what appears to be a growing community of Brits making the best of it on the beach.
