Stripping enamel?

Hiya! A good friend of mine has some old-skool metal minis that have been comprehensively (and apparently badly) covered in enamel paint. Does anyone have any good tips for removing it without killing the minis?

Thanks in advance! :)

For really heavy paint removal I\'ve used a product called Nitro-mors. It\'s a paint stripper sold in Diy shops and the like. It should be available in Germany.

It will melt plastic though so de-base all minis and pull off any plastics that need saved!

Ooo! Thanks for the reply! I\'ve actually used Nitromors myself for stripping acrylic paint off metal minis. It\'s very efficient, if slightly toxic. I stole the butt-end of a can off my Mum, but it\'s gone all goopy and weird with age now and doen\'t work so well anymore.

Sorry, I should have clarified: My friend lives in England, so he\'d be able to find something like Nitromors quite easily I think.

Yep I\'ll second that.
But word of warning That stuff can be really nasty if you have senstitive skin.
AND for the love of mercy make sure you have plenty of water available to wash you hands throughly. Sentitive skin areas ( ) don\'t react well with any traces of the stuff!

Aye, when I used it I made sure I had decent gloves on and rinsed everything as thoroughly as I could before taking them off!

Acetone (finger nail polish remover) should do the job.

Any decent paint/laquer stripper from the DIY home center.

Let soak overnight in a GLASS jar (old pickle/baby food, etc.)

Get a cheap battery operated toothbrush (crest here for about $5) Makes short work of most of the mini.

A dental pick, safety pin, X-acto, etc. to get down into the creases helps too.

Acetone vs enamel, acetone wins? I wouldn\'t have thought it, but I bow to your wisdom! :)
Generally not that well. Some enamel paints will go, \"Acetone? Ha, I laugh in your general direction!\"

If your friend has any Mr. Muscle oven cleaner that\'ll work like a charm too.

As always a bit of scrubbing with an old toothbrush might be needed for the stubborn bits.
