Stripping figurines...what to use

I'm in the UK.

Old style Dettol works for me on plastic minis.

However, it is quite caustic and smells bloody awful. I would advise the following when using Dettol.

1. Take one sealable tupperware sandwich box and fill it about quater full with water.

2. Take the water-filled Tupperware box, Dettol, a pair of thick washing up gloves and your minis and TAKE IT ALL OUTSIDE.

3. Put your gloves on, hold your nose and top up the water with the same amount of Dettol

4. Stick your models in the tupperware, and seal the lid on QUICK.

5. Check that the minis are pretty much submerged, if not top up with a little water but it's not a problem if there a few bits sticking out above the water.

6. Leave to soak for 24 hours, swilling the mixture around occasionally. (leave the lid on)

7. The messy bit: Take a large washing up bowl of warm soapy water outside to your tupperware box. Put your gloves on and using the stiff toothbrush (that I forgot to mention) scrub the models in the warm water. You may have to rinse and scrub the model down with more fresh Dettol to get the stubborn bits of paint off completely.

8. Rinse the minis in plenty of clean cold water and leave to dry. Now dispose of the used Dettol responsibly.

NB The minis may well still smell of Detoll for a couple of weeks after.

Foe me his method cleaned off overpainted and undercoated GW minis right down to the plastic - with no ill affects to the surface.

Good luck

Andy
