Brake fluid seems to work the best for stripping metal miniatures. Just soak overnight then rinse. Plastics: acetone or alcohol.

Brake fluid kills *ANY* paint on *ANY* surface =) Try on your car! =)

That Dettol did a great job on the horse,
but the toothbrush got completely clogged up with paint sludge before I finished cleaning.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this?
(\"don\'t soak the mini for so long\" is obviously too late now):flip:

Can\'t you just clean the brush in some warm water? I usually scrub the miniature until all the paint is loose and then scrub it under the tap with the water running. Cleans the miniature and the brush.

Go to a motorcycle shop and grab some RBF (Racing Brake Fluid) 600...Regular DOT4 and DOT3 seem to be kinda slow in removing paint that has been on the model for a while, but the RBF 600 annihilates paint. Just be sure to cover whatever you are using as a container to keep the brake fluid from absorbing moisture from the air and runing its wonderfully corrosive nature. Also, you can re-use your brake fluid for lots of models as long as you keep it sealed up.

i noticed that when i strip minis from really early on that i didnt prime (in the depths of my ignorance) the superglued areas still retain the base coat. any ideas for that? cos the mini in qn is a Zeus X, and the back bit right between the bloody godzilla fins wants to stay green! the fins are bloody fragile, and i cant get a brush between them. hasnt been too responsive to scraping after i soaked the little fella in Pinesol for 3 days! the rest of the paint fell off a treat tho :D and extended soaking doesnt seem to harm either the metal or the glue bonds.

I usually use brake fluid and it works well. I\'ve heard Simple Green works, but haven\'t tried it yet. I\'ve used a reg toothbrush, & an electric one too. The easiest thing for me is using my Dremel tool with a vinyl brush atachment. It\'s the same idea as an electric toothbrush, but it\'s like an electric toothbrush on crack. Use a soft brush attachment and it shouldn\'t hurt the mini.:)
