stripping matt varnish

I\'ve bought some Death Korp of Krieg tanks from Forgeworld awhile back and I want to repaint them in a different color. Problem is that they have already been sprayed with matt varnish from Games Workshop. Can anyone tell me what would be a good way to remove the varnish sealer?
