stripping plastic models

I have an old regiment of the plastic warhammer high elves spearmen. They are painted badly and I want to start over. What can i use to safely strip the old paint off without damaging the plastic model?

Brake fluid works ok, if you can find a product called Castrol Super Clean it works fantastic for stripping plastics. I buy it in the automotive section at Walmart. Its sold in a 1 gallon purple jug for like $8.00 I sure any automotive store that carrys castrol products should have it. its a biodegradeable parts cleaner but it strips the paint off plastic great.

On the subject of stripping :)D), I\'ve done a forum search and I can\'t find anything about what you\'d use to strip Green Stuff. I imagine it would be a bit more vulnerable than plastic - any ideas anyone?

Just try PMing him :D It would probably require a trip to France on your part, though. I doubt he\'d cross the channel just so you could strip him. ;)

Bill green putty or Kneedatite will strip with the castrol the same way as plastic. Id imagine break fluid will work the same . GS is pretty durable once cured. remember it was origionally designed to fix plumbing leaks and repair leaky gastanks and radiators.

Stripping greenstuff?

I\'ve never tried, but I\'d reckon it\'s pretty much impossible. Think of it as filling in a tooth...chemicals will only soften what they can touch. I would suggest mechanical removal is the only reliable way..drilling/gouging sanding etc

I think he ment stripping paint off of Green stuff.. not the actual green putty itself.

Methalayted spirits (spelling?) doesn\'t harm the plastic and if you leave the models soaking in it for 5-10 minutes they will come up like new, just scrub them with an old toothbrush to remove the paint and let it dry then you can paint on it again...
