Stripping Pre-1990\'s paint

Has anyone else had this problem?
I have a load of old miniatures that i painted when i was at school (\'85-\'90) and i decided to try to strip them for re-painting.
Now, i strip a lot of mini\'s (cos im a terrible painter, lol) but these ones are near impossible!!!

I have a few theories here: is it that the mini\'s themselves are of a different compound? Is it the paint? (ie: have these ones have been painted with lead based paints)

Im from the UK, & i use Nitromors paint remover usually (with modern paints & minis it only takes 20 mins to strip)

Any thoughts my fellow \'miniature heads\'??

A wire brush attatchment on a dremmel should shift just about anything.

... including noses, pouches, heads, etc.

Try oven cleaner. The nasty kind. Use outdoors. Don\'t get any on you.

It\'s a couple of things. The paint was a bit different and the minis were lead instead of pewter. And the primer was a bit different as well, I think. As long as the minis are metal I\'ve had resounding success with Windsor and Newton brush cleaner on old minis. Let them soak over night and brush with a tooth brush. Repeat as nessecary. But be carefull, this stuff melts resin. Once all the paint is off wash with a bit of dish soap and rinse well. Then you\'re all set to go!

i thought nitromors could shift anything. skin, muscle included!

aerosol can and a naked flame (may not work but is often good fun)

It certainly does damage skin if you are stupid enough to get it under a wedding ring and not realise. (The voice of experience here!)

I also have been stripping some old minis, but I\'ve found nitromors does the trick - but then I leave it for 2 days just to make sure
