stuff from salute

a couple of things i picked up at salute. first of all the wonderful resin tiriel (?sp) from hasslefree. takes ages to clean up because you are looking for mouldlines that aren\'t there!! anyway, have nearly done the base, just some tidying up to do:

and a tardis (thanks mike!) for my housemate who is obsessed with dr who. she also takes the mick out of my models all the time so it will kill her to have to say thank you for it!! it\'s only a quick job and i have missed the door handles. i may have to tidy up the lettering a bit. the blue is a little patchy too but it looks a bit worn irl. those little windows are a pain in the arse too!!

Nice Tardis, and coo base! Martyn got me the Thunderbolt Pilot (thanks Martyn! ), whhich is so incredibly detailed I feel like I am committing a sacrilege by trying to clean it up :drunk:

Conflict: May 27th Leeds Royal Armouries.
I was intending to get several on Saturday for some people on here, but time and money ran out.
Looks like I\'m gonna be getting them at Conflict.

a company called old crow were selling them. about £2/3 i think. very nice blokes there. it not called a tardis though for legal reasons - it\'s just called a police box. i can\'t see it on the site, but if yo email them, they will help i\'m sure (there\'s also a clear resin version but apparently it\'s difficult to make so they may not have any)

the thunderbolt pilot was £6

It was originally made by AINSTY but Old Crow bought all their moulds, shortly before Michael Brooks died.
Old Crow themselves are very keen to keep all the Ainsty lines going but need to re-photograph and update their website, hence the fact thatyou can\'t find it on there. OLD Crow were really helpful when I contacted then and were great to talk to at Salute.
The have advised me that there are several 100s if not 1000s of moulds Michael had made over the years so it might take some time.

The \'Police Box\' (oh how the relevance has changed) is part of a commission I have. All 8 Doctors from Black Tree Design Plus a Dalek & K-9. As the \'Police Box\' comes in Clear & Beige resin I am going to be attempting to paint the clear version as a semi-faded out version. Wish me luck. [/color]

Just thinking aloud here, but I\'d try thin ink glazes.
To prime it, get something called \"stained glass medium\". It\'s clear. Guy in my local group swears by it as a primer.
