I haven\'t had a problem with them for base coats, I thought they had pretty good coverage for that. But I have absolutely had a terrible time trying to figure out a dilution rate that results in smooth enough layering blends for my satisfaction. Granted I\'m a little psycho about smoothness, but I usually manage it with the other paints I\'ve tried.
What has worked for me with much less trouble is to mix them with the paints I usually use (Reaper Master Series). So I use a P3 for the base and mix in an RMS for shade or highlight or vice versa. I figure it\'s a question of what I\'m familiar working with. I have done a couple of minis using just the P3s to try to practice, but I would probably need to do that a little more to really get the hang of it and with limited time for painting it\'s just easier to go on with what I know.
I do love the Coal Black as a shading colour!
