Submitting pics

Wanting to submit a few pics but am having trouble getting them down to 100kb. They were taken using a high resolution setting on the digicam so start off quite large indeed. Is there any way ican reduce the file size without reducing the quality of the pics or having to redo them?

Note; The only software I have to work with at the moment is MS Photo Editor.

Use MS Paint to open your photo (it comes with Windows). Once there, select the area of your model with the box tool and proceed to the image menu, to the expand / contract settings. Play around a bit with the options until you get the size you want and then adjust the size of the frame to match your reduced pic. Save as you wish.

Acdsee has a trial version of their image browser that will allow basic editting (like reducing image size, quality). The last time I checked the trial version was supported by advertising so it\'s effectively free if you don\'t mind the ads.

Under the Browse view, select the picture and click the Enhance button.

You could always host the picture on the web.

Though few places allow picture hotlinking, Netfirms and Homestead(if they\'re still offering a free service) are a few that do.

Compress them into JPEG files. It should reduce the size drastically and preserve most of the quality. If you are already using JPEG than your images are just humongous!

JUST compressing to JPG doesn\'t always work for reducing file size. Sure, you can get something down to less than 100K, but it might also be grainy and fuzzy as all hell.

If it\'s a high resolution camera, try reducing the image resolution (72 dpi is the standard I use for things I plan on posting online), and/or pixel dimensions--500 to 600 pixels on the widest edge is my rule of thumb (with some exceptioins).

Photoshop will let you do that, but I don\'t think Paint will (as I recal, Windows Paint doesn\'t even like JPGs... only bitmaps).

I do a lot of art with Photoshop, so I\'m afraid I can only offer advice on how to edit pictures that-a-way. I\'m sure you can do the same thing in CorelDraw/Paint or mebbe even Illustrator, but I don\'t use those. o_O

Hope that helps!

Let sleeping threads lie, young one....

We usually don\'t like dredging up threads, unless someone has a question, plus your info is all wrong. This is the oldest thread, if you\'re going by start date, plus it was the very first one (those thread numbers aren\'t just for fun, you know). :p
