it\'s funny you mention shrek, It seemed like before I started painting, the ogre was half green (stuff) :D

I even took a photo for the site so whatever potential buyer can see the conversion and sculpting work. It was actually kind of addictive (the sculpting), I might have to start dedicating some time to doing it a lot more! ;) My BIG problem was that I don\'t think I have the patience for it. I\'d be happy sculpting away on one place, then look back and the previous place had turned into one big thumb print since I hadn\'t let it dry before moving on...

@Eric it\'s actually the cement ship in Aptos, just south of Capitola, the next pier down the coast, and the house is in Seacliff, a VERY nice place to live :)

@Eric : I know what you mean. I\'m addicted to anything that has to do with creation :). By the way, I use latex gloves to avoid unwanted fingerprints (I got that tip from Gaël). It has a double advantage : no fingerprints on the mini + you can answer the phone without putting putty all over the place ;).

hmmm, that\'s a great tip with the gloves! I\'ve always been scared to try extensive greenstuff work more than just filling gaps between parts, but this project has really forced me to do a lot more. The entire head of his weapon, the tusks for his back, chainmail over various parts of him. But now that I really just got into it and tried, I understand what you\'re talking about, I think I may be getting addicted to it! I\'m still a ways from a full mini from scratch, but I\'m a lot more confident to take on bigger conversions. :)

That\'s cool. I never made it down to the Aptos pier. That whole coast is a great area. What is nice is that you won\'t have to commute to San Jose or anything, and can stay nearby. Alot of people live in Santa Cruz or around the bay and make the horrible commute across 17 to work in the valley. Your job is a great fit for living there.

@Eric : Why don\'t you try to enter a VIP contest over at Ming-Hua\'s Yahoo list? The themes are always inspiring and the people over there could give you good tips. Otherwise, if you have some notions in french I could give you a few links to some great french sculpting sites.

I don\'t know if I\'m ready to enter any contests, but I really really should sign up for Ming Hua\'s list, I\'m sure there is a TON of knowledge to be gained.

I did take french at one point, but it was 10 years ago, so I\'m not sure I would be able to decipher much anything from your web sites :(

Mostly I think what I need is practice practice practice! Although I\'m relatively happy with how this project worked out.

@Eric Yep, no commute to San Jose for me, even my normal desk job is in Capitola now, so even if the graphic design doesn\'t totally take off, it\'s close.
