Hi cmon folks,
I recently stumbled over this beautiful Phantom Titan in the dakka gallerys.
I immediately fell in love with it and want to try to achieve this effect on my own titan :).
I guess the colour gradients were done with an airbrush, that shouldnt be a Problem as im quiet at brushing(think so).
The hexagonal pattern is also airbrushed, but the nebula pattern on the Titan and the Plasma/ Lightning effects... Brushed or airbrushed?!? I tried to achieve a similiar effect with my badger but... The Lightning seems just to filigran:-(.
Any ideas on how toachieve this effect?
Best regards

Julian

The hex pattern was done something like this:
White undercoat
hex mesh laid on titan (maybe a very light coat of spray sticky to help it stay in place)
Paint gradient
Peel off mesh and see white hex pattern.

the lightening effect could have been done before or after.

Have you tried contacting the artist?
Most are happy to tell you how something was done.

In the US Army infantry, we use the method airhead describes to put a desert hex pattern on our rifles. Paint the rifle tan, then add a hex of dark green in places.

this is a cool mini.

When I look at the other freehand.. I have a tendency to believe that the mesh is also made by freehand and not by airbrush... But not sure...

The artists name is Andrey Demidov, I followed he's WIP on facebook, yes most was airbrushed as said but as far as I recall the stars and nebula were hand painted. he's a truely gifted painter
