went for a loverly drive the other week with the missus and kid. for the first time in my recorded history we had a camera. lol
since i just made a photobucket account to hold them you now have to see them.

so here is some shots.

rainforest at mary cainrcross reserve at maleny mountain. pretty place full of birds that sit on you.

Is there a geologic explanation for those to stick up out of a flat plain like that?

The cores of old volcanoes? The rock that made up the cone has been \"washed\" away, leaving only the solidified magma core, like in the American southwest desert. just a guess....

yep they are vents from an extinct volcaninc system. if my memory serves they used to be around twice that height when the volcano was active and the loose earth covered the whole area. those vents are actually side vents. the mountain they come from used to be taller.

they are all solid granite but decomposing at an alarming rate. won\'t be with us forever.
