Super sand table for wargaming

Following my foray into napoleonics I now have sufficient to actually fight a battle, but nothing to fight on so with the new years sales on I picked up a brand new dining table for $99 then off to the hardware store for some wood screws and sand ...about an hour later of handyman work i have my sand table ready to try out at the weekend (battle of fuengirola 1810 - hopefully not with the same outcome! as I intend to play Brits)
Total cost of table about $140 + some glue and spray paint

Looks lovely. Dice walls should be mandatory on all gaming tables! Has anyone ever completed a game without having to bend over and find a die? I don't think so...

Some of the inclines and ridges look like they might make placing models difficult though. How large is it, 2'x3' or 3'x6' or other?

Looks lovely.
I concur, nice gaming scenery adds to the experience.

I also think Dice towers/ Dice cups should be mandatory.
I used to play against someone who would lay out his dice on the palm of his hand and then turn them onto the table with a flick of his wrist. He got called on it a few times at a GW store, but eventually he was disqualified at a tournement for that. Despite being warned twice to use a provided dice cup he persisted and was told to stop and clear away, a somewhat expensive way to learn a lesson. He spat his dummy at that and binned his fully painted spacewolves army at a service station on the way home!
He was never a 'good gaming experience'.

I don't understand people like that. I mean, how is that fun? Similar to hackers in video games, that just fly around and annoy people until they die, then hit their "kill entire server" button and log off. Like...how sad is your life to make that the best use of your time. I can understand wanting to develop your hacking skills, breaking the code and whatever, but, just to cheat and remove all "game play" from a game seems...retarded. I guess you have to be retarded to bin an entire army OR to get mad getting caught the 100th time, well, I guess he was probably just mad at himself for being too stupid to stop? Meh. Ok, enough of me waxing on. Wax off.

Looks like the sand tables we used to use for Tactical Decision Games (TDG) in the Marine Corps. Is the sand loose? On our tables we would wet the sand, then mold it to the contours of the map we were using for the TDG. When done, you just rake it smooth until the next go round.

Its 1M x 1.8M
They are not dice towers but a castle i built for my sone 12 years ago now reborn as scenery..but that gives me something else to do when not painting :)
The sand is wetted and compressed, and a very diluted mix of white glue sprayed on, though I don't think that has much effect.
No problem with figures falling over (so far)

I have that castle set. I put it on four modules so I could play with a portion / half or all of the castle. A bit small for 25mm but it looks so cool.

I am still very pleased with it and unfortunately have to wait for my opponent for a game, but the troops are raring to go and deploying!
