Surplus stuff

As you all sculpt away, I am sure you have occasionally mixed up more \"stuff\" than necessary. I have done so in the last few days, making bases for Alfonse and then thinking that they suck and doing another one Now I wonder: What do you do with your surplus? Personally I formed little googly-eyed animals out of it:

This is Blinky, the very surprised little caterpilla (named by sakura). Blinky has already enjoyed quite some moments of having sakura pet her and telling me that Blinky is cute.

This is my Green Stuff worm. Sakura has not yet seen him so he has no name yet. It was a pain to have him cure with that curve though.

And the most recent one, Sluggo the Slug. Sluggo is still drying and I really hope I can remove him from the plastic lid I put him on once he\'s dry....

Ad while your rightly complaining about the pictures (haven\'t yet got the hang of photographing green/white stuff), is there any way to \"conserve\" already mixed GS? Does freezing work?

I tend to have a couple of armatures around where I stick surplus putty on as filler material.

You can freeze mixed putty to slow curing but I think that after a day in the freezer the putty will not cure any more. So, this is no help for keeping cured putty but can help if your sculpting gets interupted by telephone calls etc.

I just roll my waste into balls, then vac them up another day after they\'ve rolled on the floor.

And why has the worm ears? I\'ll have to call him Elli.
I like Sluggo, but sluggs have to have tantacles with there eyes, and he\'s to thin.

sakura, I am so very sorry and shall flog myself for forgetting what Blinky actually is. However, for not understanding that the worm actually has eyes and not ears and for insisting on some grade of reality concerning my 2 minute sculpts, I should have to flog you. So that evens out and the slug sticks to the plastic like sticky the stick who got stuck on a sticky bun. Meh!

I need to watch more Black Adder.

EDIT: Galante, I would like to, but there\'s the CMON Paint Aid Ogre, my Chick challenge Entry and Alfonse\'s base before I will do anything else...

I make tiny mushrooms for basing, or roll it out to a thin sausage which I can slice up once it\'s dry and use as coins (for basing )...but most of the time I just let it dry in random shapes and throw it away when I clean the desk. Which is why my desk is full of old gs lol

I make mushrooms, cat-tails, small points, leaves, lily pads, caterpillars on mushrooms, etc. Basically all sorts of little bits that would later be useful on bases. There\'s also a slug with eyestalks, but I haven\'t managed to work him into a base yet.

I also keep several sculpting projects in progress (bases, figures, etc) that I can apply the excess. I don\'t often toss any out now unless it\'s getting too hard to work with or I\'m up to my eyeballs in mushrooms.

Accually, \'Drehwurm\' is not real animal, but what you get when you spin to fast and everything gets blury afterwards.

@Mosch and Sakura - I think he should be called Sluggy! On Kids In The Hall (tv programme, you\'ve probably never seen it) they had a pet slug called Sluggy. Of course, bad things always happened to Sluggy.

I make rocks out of my spare putty/greenstuff. Lots of my minis end up standing next to lone boulders.

Jup, antannas, that\'s what I meant. Just forgot the word (my Prof. would most likely kill me for that misnaming).
And it shouldn\'t be called slugg-anything since it can be, under any circumstances, a slug.
But I have a name for the eye- eared worm: Spiro.

You can keep mixed greenstuff in the freezer and it will stay fresh for a few weeks.

After more than a few weeks it cures and you can\'t use it anymore.

Interesting. A member of 1listsculpting reported that in his case the putty became useless after 2 days in the freezer. That is, from that point on the putty wouldn\'t cure any more. What exactly happened in your case? Hmm, I think I\'ll do some testing here.

The secret is (get ready to flame), mix ALOT less than you think you need. That way you run out, mix more. But must of the time there is STILL a little left

BTW: I will also try freezing excess, but most of the time its SO tiny as to be not worth it.
