Thank you. I've kind of hit a brick wall with it. The rat is still in the pipeline. For now experimenting with test minis.

i've had trouble with reds in the past so had a bash on a chaos warrior. Decided to give nmm a bash too. Turns out i'm no good at all with it. Will try some easier shapes before i give it another bash on a complex mini.

I agree, the reds look great. Great depth and nice smooth transitions. Did you switch to metallics? Hard to tell from the pic.

Yeah i swapped to metalics. Nmm was just a tad out of my depth for now. I'll come back to it at a later date i just really struggled getting the transitions into such small places.

A lot of great stuff! Really like the blue down jacket. Btw the reds are nice. I also think your nmm was looking good...it was just coming across as a dark iron instead of a shiny steel like you're achieving with the metallic paints.

I really like the korn knight. the helmet and reds really strike me.
Also like the grit you added to the blue jacket on your newest mini.

Nice work!

Made a total arse of the guy in the blue jacket. Varnished him as some of the paint was damaged in transit amd the varnish went white in places gaaah!

in the mean time i did a bit more practice with skin today. This was more to get used to glazing as it's something i really don't do enough of when i paint.

so far i'm happy with the skin, i'll likely need to go back and add a few touches once i've done some more of the rest of it.

That skin looks real nice. I'm the same in that I don't glazes as filters when I paint as much as I should/want to. Would you mind sharing your recipes/process?

View attachment 56063Thank you. I'm still kinda playing with ideas at the moment but stippling glazes was used today on the legs and weapons.

As for the skin scale 75 unnatural flesh started with harvester flesh and added whites for highlights and browns and reds for shades. Very very thin blacks where i wanted it really dark.

Nice progress on the skin color. i think you could go darker on the oblique muscles shadows like you did with abs.

Entering my first ever large competition, 'Ed bangers. I'll only be putting one entry in and it'll be a rookie category entry.

using it as a bit of a kick up the arse to do better and a feeler for more competition based painting.

anyway this is the model i've chosen as my entry

There's a Facebook group called 'eavier metal, they're running a competition now which you enter online but you have to be a member of the group (although i got accepted pretty quickly so that shouldn't be an issue) it's perfect for me because it's an online competition and there's 4 months until the end date so i can finish what I'm already working on while in wait for a few bits to arrive
