Let\'s see. It is 10:30 PM Saturday night. My three kids are asleep. My wife fell asleep on the couch after another 20 hour day chasing a toddler. I received the Ephrael Stern Limited Edition Model via UPS today. KISS\' greatest hits are playing on my computer sound system and I am 4 months from my fortieth birthday.

I about 3 hours I will have completed my Inquisitorial Land Raider (and therefor the whole HQ squad) and I am exited as hell.

So is this the way a 40 year old is supposed to act? p.s. \"Detroit Rock City\" just came on.

Also, since I have brought it up - is anyone on this list over 40 or am I the eldest.

not over 40 but I can relate

My 3 kids are sleeping as well, the wife is nighty nite too, I have finished a large project for a game company yesterday (first one ever!) but alas.....I am 30:p

EDIT:I am a KISS fan, not an army member but I appreciate their music and remember being facinated by Gene when I was 5. Even got a plastic guitar with all their faces on it when I turned 6. :duh:

I have always been a KISS fan. A couple years ago my cousin showed up at my door. He had done some film work with Paul Stanley and had a signed \"Psycho Circus\" poster under his arm. It hangs over my painting table.

Well, I\'m one month shy of 35 and planning to get there... to that situation, I mean! At least you DO paint, I haven\'t touched a brush in over a year!!!

Oh my. Is this a \"40 and under\" site? Its been many years since my 40th. I\'m not going to start a contest, but to answer your question, you are definitely not the oldest.

Whippersnappers!

At the risk of this turning into a version of Python\'s three Yorkshire men sketch...

I have jut turned 44 and have an obscenely large collection of (mainly) unpainted miniatures. When not painting or on the net I enjoy nothing better than a good session on the Playstation. The neighbours rung me up at 1.00 this am to ask if I could turn the music down a bit. (Led Zep\'s new DVD). I am married and my wife is currently pitting herself against \'Summoner 2\' on the Playstation as I type. Currently listening to the Stereophonics on the old hi fi.

I work extremely hard in a demanding professional capacity but see nothing wrong with regressing when I get home.

No kids, never really saw the need.

So, perhaps there is hope, or perhaps there isn\'t. Rather depends on your point of view.:flip:

BTW am I the crustiest contributor? Anyone older out there, Dragonsreach, I am looking at you??:bouncy:

I think Mike is actually 21yrs old ;).

Just as an aside, my mate is 42yrs old (I\'m 26) and he has just made the most remarkable u-turn in life...

He decided to throw away his engineering career and go for probationary work. If accepted next week he will enter a new job with less money but with a sense of satisfaction from stopping people re-offending. He has also just completed an A-Level in History and is currently in the process of studying a History Degree with the Open University!

It seems to me that the age of 40 is a huge catalyst for us men, and I dread to think what crazy Bohemian crap I\'ll find myself attempting if I get that far!

By the way, what is the age of understanding for women, and who is the oldest female on this site? Apart from my Mum that is (she keeps an eye on me you see).

And do the eyes work at the age of 40?

Life begins....

Actually, being 40 something isn\'t that bad. I guess I am lucky in that nothing has dropped off (yet) or stopped working (yet). I think I stopped maturing mentally when I was about 18, when I was that age there were loads of things I wanted to do but couldn\'t because I was poor. I am by no means a rich man now, but if I want to buy an airbrush I can just go out and buy one. Likewise with any minis that take my fancy.

I have to admit I get some funny looks when I walk into a GW in my business suit. Spotty \'erberts come up to me thinking I might be about to buy a present for my kids or something. It\'s amazing the BS they come out with. I just love the look on their faces when they begin to realise that I might know more about 40k/painting than they do.lol

The biggest advantage about maturity IMO is that you definitely become more relaxed about things. I don\'t give a rat\'s arse about what what people think of me, what clothes I should be wearing, what music I should be listening to, what car I should be driving etc. I have always felt like this but when I was younger there was always a degree of uncertainty, \'what if other people are right and I am wrong?\' Now I couldn\'t give a hoot.:p

My major concern is that if I paint one mini a day from my \'to be painted\' pile and never buy any more, I will have to live to be about 360 or something to get them all done. Looks like I am going to have to prioritise:bouncy:

By the way Rev. Good luck to your mate. I am sure he wont regret it. I did the same/similar thing when I was 30. Gave up a hugely well paid job at Ford Motor Company and b*ggered off to university for 5 years. Best 5 years of my life:flip::bouncy::flip:lol

finn17: Maybe you should sell some of your old lead on eBay. It sounds harsh I know, but maybe clearing out The Pile would refresh your impetus to paint, and give you some extra cash to buy some new models you want to paint now.

Just to be slightly on topic here, I\'m 28. Single, no kids. I\'m really impressed with all of you who can find time to paint amid the demands of spouses, children and jobs. Not to mention those of you who have found partners who don\'t think your hobby is tres weird...

Well,... I initially told Louise that my hobby was taxidermy and then asked how old her mother\'s cat was. She now has no probs with my current miniature fixationlollol

Besides,... collecting shoes, when was that activity ever declared normal?:bouncy:

Well, she doesn\'t... She\'s simply opening drawers and cupboards and asking me what\'s all that *unpainted* metal and plastic doing in there... :eek:

Yes the eye\'s do still work when you pass the big 40 at 43 I have no problem with 10mm stuff and the 25mm plus scale is still even a dodle its the brush shake when you do eye\'s that becomes a challenge but then I have always had that so I cann\'t blame it on age.

Also Liz knew about my various kwirks and strange hobbies before we got married so the only problem I get is trying to convince her that I cannot sit down and paint for just 10 minutes here and there and that I need an hour or two at a time.

Oh I quite agree, I was merely pointing out that, compared to a lot of people who frequent this site, age may not be on our side.

Well, going by the ages being mentioned on this thread - I\'m a happy, \"middle-aged\" painter (36).

And just like finn17, if I retired tommorrow and just painted - I will be found slumped over my painting desk, brush in one hand, mini in the other and a large pile of minis still waiting to be painted.
