I am off this time for the night. I am going to play poker with some of the other Canadian teachers here.

Texas hold\'em is the devil. It\'s more addictive than crack, and almost as expensive.:(

Personally I can\'t stand playing poker. I hate the thought of losing my money.

Well, good thing I wasn\'t looking for sympathy. Thus the smiley at the beginning of the post. ;)

I was just making conversation about the game.

Whatever happened to CMON. I remember not too long ago this was site you could go to and hit the forums and have a lot of good conversations.

Now all you get are a bunch of people spamming the hell out of you just to get their post count up so they can get Freak status, trolling with tired GW rhetoric, or looking for for sh*t to be offended by.

I\'ve had some really really good games with friends. We just bet with chips (poker chips, not eating chips), or pennies or whatever we have, and no one loses or makes money. That way it keeps it fun, and no one gets angry or upset. Oh the stories I could tell...

EB - did you win any? Hate the gambling boats they have here. If you run out of money, there is NOTHING to do until the boat comes back in.

Not enough poker face for me. I\'ll stick to Black Jack or Roulette.

If I have offended you then I\'m sorry, but I was trying to be honest. I\'ve seen in my family how destructive gambling can be.
So my take on your posting of this thread is somewhat biased.

Mike, I understand where you are coming from.

Drinking or Gamboling can be highly addictive and cause lots of other problems. Some people can have one glass of wine and be fine for the night. Others cannot stop until the bottle is empty. Same with gamboling - some can drop a quarter into a slot and keep on walking if it didn\'t hit. Others will end up putting their entire paycheck into a game.

The occasional drinker or gamboler does not see it the same way as the addict - or the family that had to be around the addict. For the rest of us, it is a night out and a bit of fun, no different spending $100 at a dinner & theater or $100 at a night of poker other than you have a possibliity (slim with casinos) of actually coming back home with that $100 or even more.

Then there are those of us who don\'t think gambling is fun at all. I\'ve got better things to do with my time and I\'d rather spend my spare cash on minis that I may get around to painting ...one day! :)

Each to their own, if you think its fun and can afford to lose the money go and give it to someone else! ...or you could just send it over to me so that I can buy some more minis! lol ...or maybe you could give it to a good cause instead. :rolleyes:

Seriously though, the main reason I\'m not interested in gambling is seeing its effects on those who can least afford to do it, and yet are most inclined to acquire a serious habit.

No evil vibes from me. As long as you are not betting the rent or your kids food money, it is just another form of entertainment.
