well there is not sub flooring. There\'s no basement so it\'s all on a concrete slab.
Duffers has not gotten a mohawk yet but his magenta tipped tail is gone. It was so cute though.

So tiles huh? I was thinking that you should have looked into Pergo flooring. Goes in quick, looks nice, stays cool but not freezing. Really easy as it is all snap together. Did my Sisters first floor (700/800 sq ft) in a weekend. And my Dad help my Grandfather with their kitchen (small 10x10 or so, but they did the 45 degree angle) in a couple of days. Just my two coppers, as anything that I have to say really doesn\'t matter as it\'s your house, Congrats BTW if I haven\'t said it already. Where\'s the pictures anyway?

Mud my mom has pergo flooring and she said first that she wished she had gotten tile in the kitchen (that\'s what\'s hot now, that\'s what will drive the price of my home up when I want to sell it) plus if she were to do it over again she\'d get real hard woods in the rest of the house.
The vision I have for my house is tile in the kitchen and bathrooms and hardwoods throughout the rest of the house including the bedrooms. No carpet.

As for it being Prego, not sure if that was the correct name. Lets just say that the flooring as so far survived 3 cats, two large crazy dogs, the moving of a couple sets of furniture and still not gotten anymore scratched up then my Folks true hard wood flooring. Which has survived three kids, 3 large crazed dogs, cats, moving and what not.
Tile floor is the big thing again huh? Going with fancy borders, odd size or 12x12 plain jane?

Oh I don\'t have any solid plans on what I want to do with the hardwoods.
The floors have always been the huge selling points in houses. Along with granite counter tops, stainless steel everything and all the amenities one can imagine.
Pergo is the laminate corrigated wood flooring. It\'s not hard wood but it\'s not linoleum, it\'s still hard and durable, doesn\'t scratch but looks like a hard wood floor. That what you are talking about?

yeah sounds like the same stuff. You called it pergo earlier so it\'s probably the same brand.
Pergo is ok but I figure I\'ll just get the real thing, real hardwoods and get a better resale value on my house.

Meg, As far as the issue with Lowes goes, they\'re owned by the same guy that owns WalMart, so knowing that, my expectations of them have always been rather low. As far as thinking that they are hustling you because you are female, good for you for not backing down, regardless of the reason they are doing it, they\'re wrong and they ruined your floor. End of story. It\'s not easy being a ball breaker, but sometimes you aren\'t left with much of a choice. You should feel good for sticking to your guns.

Umm Lowes and Walmart have nothing in common with ownership s far as I know. Walmart was started by Sam Walton and is still pretty much owned by the walton Family though it is a publicly traded company. Sam Died in 1992 or so.
Lowes was started byH. Calrl Buchan and his brother in law James Lowe in 1946 and is now also a publicly traded company... nothing in common..
Now Lowes instaler did screw up Megs brand new floor and Im totally supprised that they have not jumped to fix this asap.. they dont have much ground to stand on.

Yes I am a new freak in da house yo!
As for Lowe\'s: they didn\'t contact me within the 24 hour window they said they would have Senior Management contact me so I\'ve escalated the issue to District Manager. They have until 7pm on Saturday to get back to me. If they don\'t I will escalate it to their VP office here.
Currently they have not taken responsibility for the issue and their assistant manager who was trying to take care of this issue said he would have an installer contact me yesterday to set up a time to get an estimate done . . . yeah didn\'t happen. I knew it wasn\'t going to happen anyway and I told their customer care representative that when I was escalating the issue.
The way I see it, the longer this goes on, the nicer the floor will be that I get in the end.

Meg, I would gladly trade you problems. I would take your damaged floor issue any day over the crazy b*tch neighbor we got when we moved.
Not a problem..walmart does own Sams club.
I had a crack head family that lived across the stree from me for 6 years till they finally got evicted a year ago. They guys that bought the house off the Sherrif sale took 4 - 20 ft dumpsters of trash out of the house..
