My ears are still ringing after hearing the squeels over the phone. lol
it was game night and a game of No Limits, with a twist. Kev had come up with some rules for a skirmish mission which involved picking ten models, irrespective of points value, with the limits of only two could have heavy weapons or power armour (I was playing Craig and we both had Grymn). Until your units could see each other, we represented them by numbered bases with only Kev, acting as referee, and the cotrolling player knowing which were which. There was a lot of terrain to hide behind. Also, if no enemy could see your model then you could send a decoy or \"blip\" out, creating an extra signal on the opponents radar. We both had mission objectives and those were kept secret from the other player. Mine was to locate an artifact which I could find by scanning, and then retrieve it and take it off the opposite table edge.
it turned out to be a very close game. I got some early success in taking out his heavy weapons and a couple of other troops, but he had managed to keep most of his close assault troops hidden, whilst mine were discovered and taken down. In hindsight I should have split them up more but it was my first go at this mission and Craig had played a practice game. We both found our artifacts and the race was on. I had to footslog it whilst Craig had use of a jump pack. However I also had some heavy infantry and a sniper (which was representing Liz in my army). I gradually targeted the blips on the scanners but mostly found the decoys, although Liz managed to take out another two enemy troops to add to the one she got earlier. My own troop with artifact was just one turn away from the table edge when Craig managed to escape. So I lost by one turn. If I\'d had a couple more turns go my way with rolling for initiative maybe I could have hunted those last three enemies. So close! It was fun.
