Talisman Video Game

So it sounds like Xbox live, PSN and PC versions of the classic GW Talisman board game will be showing up by the end of the year.

That\'s pretty intense... I know a number of people who have some random bits and pieces of the old sets, but from different versions and whatnot. It would be pretty cool to play a coherent version of it even if it\'s not with the physical game board.

Supposedly the game\'s going to feature a 3D version of the real game board, and I\'m wondering if the rules will be more or less cut and paste or changed somewhat.

Anyway I thought this was worth mentioning. I\'ll post more info when I find it, right now I\'m going by what I read off Penny Arcade :D

Have you got a link to it?

Could swing either way, potentially could be cool, but also could go drastically wrong.

that would be extremely dull to just lift the simple beer and pretzels game and drop it into xbox.

I understand a new version of the game recently came out anyway.

Now I can see them making an RPG in the Talisman world.

If there\'s a version of the board game out then this might not be a big deal, you\'ve got a point. But I didn\'t know that :p

Here\'s some info, it\'s towards the second half of the quick article.

Here\'s the announcement of the new release coming this October (I was wrong about it having come out - it\'s due out in a few months)

Oh, and I realize that the advantage of an Xbox online version is that you can play with other people more easily.

<sigh> its the way the world is going i guess.
i was playing D&D the other day with my friends, and this girl came over to visit. she didnt think it was weird that we were playing D&D, but it blew her away that we were playing an rpg fantasy game that wasnt on a computer. she couldnt fathom it. \"you mean, its not even on a computer?\"

Damnit, just a couple months ago I forked out over $100 for a copy of the original Talisman game. :drunk:

One of the best board games ever produced in my opinion. I used to have it, all the expansions and all the minis. Every time I hear the word \'Talisman\' I kick myself for getting rid of it. Can\'t wait for the board version to come out.

I\'ve still got the original and all the expansions and still drag it out and play now and then.

I\'m definately interested in the game coming out, and I would be willing to try it online, but I don\'t think it would compair to playing with friends in my basement.

As for a Talisman RPG, there is one, it\'s called Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

That\'s not set in the Talisman world.
Of course I suppose you could set your adventures there. But I meant an online RPG, which can be more goal oriented than WoW and the world limited to the realms, the city etc.

The main thing about the digital versions is \"downloadable content\" for all the characters, expansions, etc. Shouldn\'t cost too much, being on Live Arcade and whatnot. Couple bucks per expansion compared to hundreds on eBay or $20-50 each at the store later this year.

Being able to play online is neat, I guess... but honestly I\'d probably rather play a board game with people in person :p

So weird...

It seems too weird to think of Talisman as a computer game.

Grumb and I played Talisman on our first date :) (and I kicked his butt!)

We still have the game and a few expansions. Actually played with friends last summer when our DM got sick and couldn\'t make the D&D game at the last minute.

I thought a good southern gal wouldn\'t allow that until the 3rd date. You youngsters nowadays....
