Tamiya Color Primer

I wanted to try some Tamiya Color Primer (black) and on the label it said "for plastics." Has anyone used it on metal minis?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's more of a lacquer, and rather than bonding to the metal like it does to plastic, it will cover, but expect flaking and chipping. Also, I think there's also a primer Tamiya produces specifically for metal; that might be worth looking into.

I thought Tamiya only made White and Grey Primer.
Never seen black unless it's new.
Googled it and black primer didn't came up.

Ya there is a craft store where I live that sells Tamiya paints and primers. They sell the surface primers, which say "for plastic and metal" (only produced in white and grey), but I guess they also make colored primers in various colors that say "for plastics". I guess you are right. That they are more of a lacquer.

This stinks because I cannot get GW primers shipped where I live and there is no one here that sells GW primers... I guess I better get used to Tamiya grey...

GW don't produce primers.
GW's advertising will make you think that they are primers.
Chaos Black & Skull White are just acrylic paint in a spray can.

Tamiya is a far better primer, but have a look around for Krylon or just check out any of the primer threads in the Painting and Conversions forum.

Did GW formerly produce a primer? I swear I've used a can that said specifically "PRIMER" on it. I've looked in local hobby shops now and have only seen the black, white, DA green, and some other butt-ugly color I have no intention of using.

@Aliengod3

Embrace the grey primer. It's the best I've used yet.
