Tamiya weathering sets - any good?

Their selling these sets on Ebay, theres a set of five going for £13.99, wich apparently lets you do most types of weathering and such.
Do you really get better results instead of normal drybrushing and washes?

you get different results.

powders give you a matt finish that can also have texture if done correctly.

it\'s a good price mate, i\'d invest if i were you and you were wanting to push your weathering skills.

Pop down to the local art shop and buy some earth-coloured pastels, plus maybe white and black. Pare down with a sharp blade and voila, weathering powders.

You can apply them dampened (with water or turps/white spirit) for a different effect and when they dry you\'re again left with powder sitting on the surface.

thats what i did (it was a little hard work as i am colour blind). it works out nice and cheap and you can vary the colours as much as you want

The CMON shop should have the Tamiya weathering sets by the end of the week, pretty coincidental

I picked up a small 3 color set of their weathering powders some time back. Not back, relatively easy to use and rather more forgiving then i had originally thought. However their \"snow\" pen i would steer away from, rather pain in the arse to make look right and use in general.

I don\'t use so much of the pigments purely because a lot of my work is intended for handling in gaming....

If your nsure on the tamiya stuff and want to try it out first PM me your address I have a set and a weathering stick spare you can have to test run....

If it\'s the guy I\'m thinking of in hong Kong he\'s pretty good and reasonably quick .. can\'t remeber the username now Icanucan or something similar???

The key with al the weathering methods is relly practise practise practise the beauty is that most are non permanent so any experimenting can soon be removed.

Mig Pigments really are the bees knees imo. I use them for my armour modelling.

I was just about to start a thread asking about the quality of these pigments. Glad I took a sec to see if someone already had the same thought!

Does anyone have an example posted on here with a before/after weathering effect?

Heres a pic of a nurgle dread i\'m working on, the rust effect is achieved soley using the three rust pigments mig do.

With a mix of using them wet and dry.
