Tannhäuser repaint (Commando)

Since those Tannhäuser figures aren't that superbly pre-painted, I just decided to start repainting them.
My first TH figure is this allied soldier and I just wanted to see how easy these are to repaint. These are about 30mm tall but much slender than for example GW's miniatures and most of those parts like face and hands are lot smaller, so you need to be rather careful when painting these. Overall this was quite nice miniature to paint. Nice sculpt and all even though plastic material they are made of is rather soft.

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing; I just simply left that base black because this is a miniature from a boardgame called tannhäuser (see below) and all those boards have different themes, like cave, somekind of a lab/house, snowy base etc.

Nice...I'm familiar with Tannhäuser and seen the minis.
Love the whole concept of the story.
I try to convince some painters that these prepainted minis are quite nice and only lacking points for the minis are the paint jobs, much like AT-43.
You just proved that a great paint job makes these minis shine.

Tannhauser is making a comeback, thanks to a new version of the rules due out soon, from FFG.

Really like this repaint. Like DXM says, the minis are very stellar, just kind of got overlooked because of the pre painted thingy.

i really liked 'em when the game came out...
pre-paints suck...

the starter set minis were available unpainted on the Tannhauser website for a while...
i'm bummed i never got my hands on 'em...

Yeah, I kept meaning to get the resin unpainted, just never did....DAMN!

It just goes to show you, in our little 'mini-world' you have to get things when you see them. Impulse buying is the best way to avoid later regret!

It's rather soft plastic. More like those old matchbox or airfix plastic soldiers. For example those rackham pre-paints are slightly harder and not so bendy as these Tannhäuser minis. It's not that bad but some of these have rather small and bendy gun barrels and weapons.

I just used GW's primer (which I happen to like) over the pre-paint and so far I haven't noticed any problems (knock wood). It seems to work, although I will varnish that one and I have to make some kind of a storage box for those minis to prevent damage. Me and my friends just have to play carefully. Not that I would have habit of throwing my miniatures.
