Hi everyone,

I\'m looking for a few inspirational pictures of miniatures with some freehand tattoo\'s on them.

Reason for this is because I want to give some to my Beastmen.

take a look at dwarves, especially slayers, they usually have tattoo work if done by more advanced artists...

One thing I\'d say is, if you\'re gonna do a tat, don\'t have the colours THAT bright (Unless it\'s intended to be new - in which case, the surrounding flesh should be reddened)

In the case of my Nork Deddog ( http://www.coolminiornot.com/155987 ) I used shadow grey for it, to simulate the ink having faded over time.

Other colours fade in different ways, and some colours might last longer, if you want to go into that amount of detail, but I would just try mixing a little grey into your colour mix (Or glazing over the finished tat) if you want it to look aged.

The tattoo\'s are for my Beastmen, so they are going to have tribals and chaos sings and such.

as i understand it, the trick to making tats look realistic is to paint the tat normally, then glaze over it with very thin layers of the skin colour

Dr Evilmonki did a fantastic freehand tattoo on a Beastman for a round in the Iron Painter comp.

Inspired from the hannibal, Red Dragon film IIRC

Holy ****! That looks awesome!

Looks like i will be using:

Chaos Black undercoat
Very thin glazes of Codex Grey
Some blending with the skin colour

So, if anyone has some inspirational chaos-logo\'s, post them here.

take a look in the tattoo gallery at:; www.bmezine.com for some real world reference and ideas.

remember that savage tattoos have an annoying habit of losing the colours intensity as well as bleed out some pigments.
