giggle...ok, here goes:
you using too ffin lines, look beter wiff bolder design. also not use blacklining, but start wiff dark blue and work up from that.....oh, scrap this orky talk.
Basically, i think that you\'d do better if the design was bolder, less \'flimsy\' if you know what i mean. I also think that it might work better if you used a geometric design on the face, instead of one blue line randomly starting and ending.
the colour\'s a bit too bright for the realistic Rackham style skintone, maybe you\'d be better off using something like a blue/black base, and adding bone to that for the highlights, or even a fleshtone, to keep the colour soft. blacklining tattoos hardly ever works in my eyes, because it\'s \'part of\' the skin as such, and not a different material. hope this made sense

Sure does, thanks. I\'ll try and do the tats over with some more muted colours, and make them a bit wider. Still not sure how to do the face, though....should I just get rid of the tat that\'s there and start all over? Maybe a wider stripe of blue over one eye? Or does anybody have any suggestions for a pattern?

I think at least on the face, you should just remove the tattoo and start again. However, if you think you can change the arm tats, then go for it! I\'d recommend sketching it out on paper first though, then you could get a more organized design.

I agree with Tammy tattoo\'s are almost organic, being sub cutaneous so the blacklining doesn\'t work. Also think about colours, blue of that colour was rare in the past without manufactured dye\'s ( the Vigin mary was always painted in blue robes as the paint was the rarest and most expensive thus showing the devotion of the painter/sponsor- I could go on but...) I know that it is not reality but black seems to me to be appropriate for orcs as does red.

Are you washing back over the tat with your skin color?
I\'ve not actually done a serious attempt at tatooing on a mini yet (so take it with a grain of salt), but my understanding is that going back over the design with a watered down wash of your skintone helps it \'blend\' in better.

Maybe the blue and green are too close on the color spectrum? I don\'t know.

No: see everyone knows that milk is way too healthy for an orc\'s metabolism. It causes them to break out in bright blue rashes. We tried to tell our shaman friend that, but he was so miffed about his tats not working out he drank it anyway.
As far as ideas: how about a big tear drop under the visible eye, or the usual jaggies orcs seem to like so much. I did an orc a ways back (like 16 years ago) that just had a big upside down triangle with the point at his chin, that turned out well.

Here is my take on orc tats...
nice red skull motif and a checker pattern. Proper orcy... obviously, if your shaman wants good luck, the skull motif will be in blue...
But I agree that washing a natural looking green (like your highlight colour) over the tattoos will make them look more like tattoos than warpaint.
