Tau forgeworld XV9 Commander suit

Second mini in a week... I've found my interest again in these guys.
This time more of a commander pose, hence the white armor. This static pose is not what I'm used to with my dynamic positions I usually love. This guy is kinda screening the victorious battlefield, seeing that everything is happening the way he wants it to be.

wow dude that is amazing! Its so different...I find it hard to commit to doing so much battle damage on a piece but as you can see in yours it REALLY paid off. Friggin fantastic. 10

Overall, a really good miniature. I really like the color palate you went with. White and orange look great together, and the blue used on the gun compliments the orange well. I also like your weathering technique. It creates a fairly realistic look. The only criticism I have is that in several places it looks like you applied the orange too thickly. My guess is that you would have benefited from thinning the paint more and applying several more coats to create a more even finish. See picture below:

As for the orange, I must admit that I've splashed it on quite thickly yes. I wanted to get it finished and was rushing a bit. cheers ^^

My first thought was he looks like a weapon from District 9. Very cool idea and scheme! One thing i noticed was in the front-facing photos you'll see the orange on his right (our left since we're looking at him) thigh doesn't go all the way to the line; there's still a white spot there. That being said, you're making me want to dust off the old FW XV-88s I have lying around

Just the weathering is a bit too much for my liking... Maybe not THIS dirty next time.

It's easy to weather it up like that and fun, so it's kinda easy to overdo it ^^
Does anyone know why my ranking hasn't gone up yet? My average went up with an 8.1 with 46 votes? Or do you need 50 to get it counted? Thx guys.

Nice work there! I like how you used blue and purple to add some brigthness to your mini. I would have gone for a less weathered look but in the end it's a personal preference and anyway war is hell so anything goes! And as a painter with 2 of my minis stuck at 49 votes for some days now I can confirm that a mini must have 50 votes before it can affect your ranking.
