Tau Stealth Suit Scheme Idea and Questions

Sometimes I feel like since I'm so new and don't know a lot that all of my questions/threads are going to be considered spam at some point.. ;)

Anyway, I went into photoshop with a picture of one of my Stealth Suits trying to come up with a scheme idea and came up with the picture below (the entire scheme is incomplete, just a rough idea focusing on a few basic/plausible colors and the rust). I love looking at models that appear old and weathered but I was wondering if something like this was too difficult to attempt for my first few minis. I don't want to settle for something bland and stereotypical with a tabletop standard of painting, but at the same time...I've never painted minis before.

What do you guys think? Doable? And if so, where on EARTH would I get started with painting something like this?? haha!! :p I know pigments from MIG or someone like that could help, but overall...I have no clue.

EDIT: I've been researching weathering techniques. Does anyone know if the hairspray/salt technique can be done without an airbrush?

It's only spam if your tryin to get us to buy something or look at your website, so keep firing.

As for the rust effects, I'm not sure you'll have that hard of a time doing it. A little stippling of some rust brown, maybe some light brown washes and you should have a decent rust effect. You could do some MIG pigments, which do add some texture, but I personally don't think it would be needed. I did use them for my Monkey with Flamer's flame thrower tanks, but I believe it would hhave looked just as nice without the pigments. Or was it the robot I rusted? Can't recall right now.

Thanks PegaZus!! I've heard shading white is somewhat difficult which is why I'm hesitant in doing it, but at the same time I like the idea of a white stealth suit. Thanks for the input. :)

Yeah that was the one thing I failed to mention: painting white well. That seems to be a common problem, oone I probably can't solve. However, post pics of progress and I'm sure more talented
painters will be willing to help.

I received a lot of help on my wip thread on how to paint white warjacks. I think what i learned was not to think of them as whote but as grey or brown extremely highlighted. So with the look you are trying to achieve, perhaps start with a light brown and then higlight up to a pure white. I can not help much with the rust, but thre is a lot of info in the tutorials.
