Well, I got hold of some snow flakes for my bases but I have no idea of how to use it.

Help.

A quote from the CMON shop:

Techstar Snowflakes is clearly the best simulated snow effect on the market. Highly recommanded by professions such as Jennifer Haley.

What you need to do is to put some glue on the base, dip in the snowflake powder, shake it off, and repeat the process to build up layers until you are satisfied with the effect. Other effects such as blood or mud can be applied when it is dry.

Warning: when using this product, you must wear a mask or ventilator as these particles are very very small and can cause damage with prolong exposure.

I\'m also trying to make good snowbases with techstar snowflakes, but when I\'ve done several layers, it looks like wet snow:

...rather then a thick pack of fresh snow....
I could paint it white, then it looks something like this:

But how can I make that none-wet snow look without painting it?

Nice one Patrick....

I\'ve got a packet of those flakes that I have been giving sideways glances to for a long time now. At least I now have a starting point:D

Thanks:D

Is that the same stuff as micro balloons?

I have used micro balloons in epoxy and fiberglass work as a thickening agent. Very fine, very light (quart can is almost weightless) white powder. We used it for making filets (curves in the corners - increasing the glue surface) when epoxying parts together. It also makes the epoxy somewhat flexible - kinda like a hard rubber instead of brittle.

If it is the same stuff, price model airplane stores and some home/auto/boat centers with good auto body/fiberglass areas.

Mixing the stuff is pretty tricky...! I messed up two times now...

Any tips how much glue I should use?
(I think I\'ve used too much water and
too little glue or visa versa)

Only trial and error im afraid.

I got lucky and hit it second or third try.

Just remeber...add small amounts of water.....if u add to much then more glue and snow is a good idea, that or siphon some of the water away.

Oh and make sure you water is fresh and clean as is your mixking tools, pots and everything else.

You all must have seen this one by now, but I thought I would put it on anyway. I used the superglue method to do this one with the techstars stuff.
